Register your user name, log in, click "NS2 Gather" at the top. You'll get put into a unique ID (that number at the end of the url.. ie http://www.ensl.org/gathers/5006). This is basically a pick up game. When the teams are full (12 people) then loud music plays and you vote for captains. Captains alternate pick in a 1 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 1 fashion. Also you vote for maps before the game fills up.
The TS3 server is required: - Teamspeak 3 - Server: ensl.org - Password: europe
The server will usually be run by someone in the gather. Typically a duplex server during euro times and the D|S or all in servers for NA times. If you guys don't have a server available, then someone will usually ask random admins until they find one.
MAKE SURE YOU LEAVE THE GATHER IF YOU DON'T WANT TO PLAY OR GO AFK. CLOSING THE WINDOW WILL NOT REMOVE YOU FROM THE GATHER LIST!!!!!!!

To end this derailing party i wanted to let you all know that tomorrow, sunday, april 15th @ 11 am PST NS2HD will be casting a 7v7 match with 156 vs. 420. So for all those who found it was not practical for them to experience this: now is the time to spectate and see how viable it is.

I'd love to do that, but I live in NZ, so would probably get 200-300 ping. Wish there were more Australian/NZ clans or at least enough of an NS2 scene to organize the occasional pug

The ping matters, but not as much as in most games. Mr. Arkanti frequently plays gathers with the euros and us NAs. Having one or two high pingers isn't a big deal.

Its the next best thing to joining a clan, since you're almost always playing against people who are better than your average public player.
