<div class="IPBDescription">Response to Design Log 3/23</div>The <a href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/139ySUrBsO0m0Z4ilq0YsDEHJLQhBa6RrIjJIsckL2kE/edit?hl=en&authkey=CLCo8Z0J&pli=1" target="_blank">design log</a> on 3/23 states that there are three solutions to the medpack and ammopack spamming/selecting issue:
<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->#1 - Could stay in ammo/medpack ghost mode until you right-click or click a new menu button. Would really only want this for med/ammo packs though, so would leave to inconsistency throughout the rest of the UI if it wasn’t changed.
#2 - Add a delay after med/ammo packs where you can’t click-select a marine, or anything else. Could result in a slight annoyance or unresponsiveness. Add this not just for med/ammo packs, but any time you leave a “mode†(dropping a structure, triggering nano-shield, scanning, etc.)
#3 - Could move it to right-click. Ewww.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I believe that a fourth, slightly more elegant but less straight forward solution exists.
#4 - The hotkey could be made into a toggle. Holding the hotkey would only let you place the appropriate pack, no selecting. As an additional feature, pressing/tapping simply selects a single medpack to drop.

This
- Make the hotkey dropped those items immediately at where the mouse points. This allows more action with less keys pressed.

Any or both of these ideas would be nice.
This.
I've always thought the med/ammo/catpack drop system was both inefficient for marines and unfair for aliens. Marine comm generally has to spam them to be effective while creating marines that get instant heals in battle against aliens.
I think too, this would be better.

Both seem pretty good. Eliminate the click between pressing the hotkey for medpack/ammo. Put a small cool down on medpacks/ammo, and then allow for a stationary temporary healing orb/station thing with a much longer cooldown and more expensive cost to make. Or make it cost p-res for the healing station or something.
