Running multiple servers on the same machine

<div class="IPBDescription">SteamGameServer_Init call failed</div>I have set up multiple servers running on different ports on my dedicated server box. My problem is that for every server I start after the first I get the following error:
SteamGameServer_Init call failed
Then if a client tries to connect they cannot authenticate, with the following error:
Steam is not connected, can't authenticate player
The servers are configured on different ports and use different server.xml files
Can anyone offer any advice?
