<div class="IPBDescription">or at least a big contributer</div> i was playing commander on ns_caged and we were doing good in the begining. we secured the sewers and we were also assaulting the ventiliation. once i got Ha and heavy weapons researched, i started to drop in the spawns and stuff. well, the assault on the vent failed and to make a long story short they attacked the sewers with fades. there was a waygate in the sewers so i was telling everyone to get there, but they were in teh spawn waiting for big guns! i didnt have the rp's to equip tehm all so i kept telling them to get to teh sewers but they didnt. we ended up losing because the sewers fell.
i think the problem is in teh beginning the marines have the same equipment so they follow your orders and you do well. then when the heavy weapons and heavy armor come around they start to ask for "HA and HMG plz", "shottie and jetpack plz", "nade launcher now!" etc. they spend all that time asking for stuff all the expansions are destroyed.

2) Other than that, you are abso-**obscenity**-lutely right. Just tell them no weapons or armor unless you follow your orders, and that the good of the team comes above any one of them. They will probably try to kick you out (They need a vote against the vote out, to help keep good comms in) but hopefully they will fail in that. If they do kick you out, almost certainly one of their buddies will hop in and make weapons for everyone a neglect the base. Just say 'Good luck' and switch teams or leave for another server. Maybe after their turrets start falling because they have a newbie comm that does nothing but make weapons they will learn, unfortunately that doesn't happen in real life. This is because anyone who sits in spawn yelling for weapons <i>obviously</i> has an ego larger than some small countries and feels if he gets the weapon he is demanding then he will be able to win the game. Inevitably he will blame the loss on you later for not giving him his weapon enough though the loss was his fault for not following your orders.
Troubles of being a Comm, no way around it except to get in a clan and only play on passworded servers.

3) If my Comm ever says "Hepl! I nedd defens at teh baes quikk!!1111", I'm sorry, but I don't think I can take orders from him. (Unless his was really in a rush and his typing is noramlly much better.) And I have met people who will call others newbs for mispelling things. I'm just being nice and suggesting it.
4) If you acctually read my post you'd see that 9/10th of it was totally agreeing with him, only the first sentence mentioned his spelling.

Really though, some Marines seem to take the smaller arms for granted, and simply assume bigger equals better.
Kind of like in Quake, everyone ran looking for the Rocket Launcher and the Thunderbolt. But it seems like in NS you really don't always need the heavy stuff, if only more marines would realise how valuable STANDARD equipment can be if they are a bit quicker with the mouse and a little more sensative about moving in groups and so forth, gah.
And hey, after coming from other communities, then seeing the spelling of this one, I am impressed. Most people here know what a paragraph is <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
And there you have it, the reason why everyone in the game has poor spelling. Because any time anyone makes any posts about someone improving their spelling, half the people who read it look through carefully to see if you make any spelling errors yourself. (Read: Half the people are idiots)
I'm going to ignore the j/k at the end of your post because the tone of your post was offensive, and if you were really kidding you wouldn't have bothering posting something like that. This forum is supposed to be for strategy, not people arguing with me because I think people should try their best to make what they say readable.

English major, you have got to be kidding me. I'm not even in college yet, this marking period I got a <i>76</i> in English. If English is your first language, and you can't do as well as me, that's just sad.

We are falling very off subject, so getting back on. The trick is just give them a way point and tell them a few healthly lies to get them moving. Once they are there, they are there. If they refuse to do anything give them nothing. Don't make piles of weapons on the floor, chances are that will bite you in the end when you need those resources. Toward the end of the game when it just basicly becomes a brutal battle then maybe. Untill them be careful and expand quickly. Even though NS isn't like most RTS games it still is, because you build light defences at base(good enough to last for a while). Then you build smaller bases far away and expand building defences at each. After you have so much ground when a enemy attacks and gets passed a smaller base then you build up all the defences that he will mostlikely attack on his way to your main base.
