In NS1 I almost always played Kharaa, but now in NS2 I find myself mostly playing Marines.. I don't really get the same "feel" for the aliens in NS2, it seems they've lost their touch, I don't know how to describe it.. They just feel more lackluster and sometimes even boring compared to how they were in NS1:/ I really hope that'll change though..
Funnily I hated playing aliens in NS1, but with the lerk being a pretty awesome ranged class and the gorge being a good support class rather than someone who has to spend all their money on team related things, it has at least two roles that are a lot of fun, and the onos is just easy to use so it's a lot of fun too.
Fades are difficult but doable, skulks I still hate but at least I can sort of kill extractors sometimes.
Depends. When joining in the server I pick random. After the match is ended I usually go to loser team, ex. if aliens win I go to marine but sometimes I just have the feeling to be only marine or alien. Also people in current teams concerns, mostly I go to play with people who play as team or have mic. Sometimes I check the marine team if there is only noobs and I know that anyone wont command, then I probably choose alien team. Yeah, this may be wrong but I cannot command myself because the game will start to lag after 10 mins or something if Im commander, alien or marine doesnt matter. Perhaps the biggest and only reason to avoid going to marine team, alien team hasnt that aspect.
Also when I dont want to concentrate on aiming I go to alien team and if I want to concentrate on aiming much I go to marine team. Many things which depends but mostly its the current feeling :P
I like both really. Aliens gameplay is much more assassin like while Marine is teamwork focused and that overall badass feeling you would expect from a AAA marine/alien game, the kind of game that gaming studios with millions couldnt even produce.
The thing that I'd like to see however is bigger maps, really big maps where you can build in some hidden place and things like barricade for both race ( non spammable ) or temporary door jamming/repairable. One time back in NS1 in ns_blast before our base destruction I had the time to jump in the com chair to drop another one in one of the big vent then flew right there unseen and proceeded to build a small base. The aliens didnt find us for a good 15-20min and when we got out we had shotty and stuff for a real good comeback and took down 1 or 2 of their hives, fun stuff. Id like to see such complex/large map again.

Aliens are a major improvement over NS1 to me.

Also the marine commander is a very stressful experience, where as Khammander is much more relaxed.
