Marine Health Frames

<div class="IPBDescription">Suggestion for commander view</div>Hi guys, i finally managed to sign up in the forum. :)

Lately i have been commanding a lot and i feel like it's realy hard to keep track of your marines health especially if they are fighting skulks. If you manage to hold your mouse over a jumping and running marine and the "health circle" shows up its hard to tell if the marine has actual health damage or if its just his armor that is missing. Furthermore selcting marines and giving them new move orders is very time consuming. When the player numbers reach a critical mass of >10 per team its nearly impossible to keep the move orders up all the time.

Sure you can use your mic and just tell your team where to go/attack or defend, but when there is a move/defend/attack order function in the game i want to use it to its full expand.

A lot of these issues could be solved by introducing health bars to the comms interface where health + armor (and maybe location) of each marine is shown at all times. By clicking on a marine you could selecet him, by double clicking you where brought to his location, by ctrl+click on multiple frames you could select multiple marines and give them orders as a group.

The same could be introduced for alien comannder. I think also as Kham its very important to keep track of your fellow aliens health. You could for example tell a gorge and a damaged fade to meet at a specific location etc.

Just wanted to throw this out there for discussion.

I think its a good idea. One could argue that comming becomes to easy by health bars, but thats an elitists argument and should not be taken in to account since everybody should be able to comm.

cheers, Ryoumad

I agree that the current health bar should only show hp, it would be better if armor could be shown around the healthbar rather than being part of it.
I also agree that health bars should always been shown, to prevent this problem I always mark all my marines squad 1 and select 1 to see their health when I'm dropping meds.
I'm sure they will try to make the commander view as good as possible when they have time to work on it, good points though.

About the last comment, all arguments should be taken into account while they have good reasons behind them, doesn't matter if it's a beginner or a veteran :).

Would be nice to have "name plates" so to say for everything. I remember in NS1 as a comm you could see always the HP circles of all buildings and players. Right now it's hard to differentiate what's damaged and who needs health aside from manually clicking on every single thing. (Unless I'm retarded and there is some way to toggle this on that I'm unaware of)

I'd love to see it like in SC2! Press "ALT" show all healthbars of all stuff (units/buildings)
and you can enable/disable this as permanent in the options!

This, plus separating health + armor (or even excluding armor) values from the comm view. I've wasted so many medpacks on marines who look damaged at a glance, but actually have 100% health.

Same for when you're holding a welder.
