How do I toggle laser sights on and off?

    For the Pistol? Just press right mouse, it will switch between rapid-fire (no laser) and focus-fire (with laser).

    Thank you, that's exactly what I wanted to know. No one in the server I was playing in either knew or would say.

    So when do we get lasers for our sniper rifles.... err I mean shot guns? :)

    Good thing Quake II had no alternate fire modes. <i>Yes, I do know there were two different shotguns in Quake II and one was basically more bullets at once with increased spread.</i>
    If there's one thing this game doesn't need, then it's secondary fire modes. You want weapons to be specialized and complement each other, not one weapon that can do everything with different fire modes and is basically just an upgrade for your other weapons.

    The half life shotgun had a nice secondary fire... maybe that could work

    I like the idea of secondary for the shotgun being slugs. Not so accurate that you can snipe with them, but Heavy damage to better impede alien life processes. Or antistructural. Or maybe incendiary?

    Barring that, a melee like the assault rifle would be nice :)

    shotgun def doesn't need secondary fire. it's powerful enough already.

    Now lets add a laser sight on the Shotty, it's a great sniping weapon!

    Indeed. Only reason to give a secondary fire is if you heavily nerf the base damage of single fire.
