<div class="IPBDescription">Ability to jump without using jets.</div>I would like the ability to jump normally whilst wearing a jetpack, requiring you to jump again in the air to activate your jets. This would give increased maneuverability to the jetpack and allow a slightly increased skill ceiling with timing your pack activation optimally for how much momentum you want before using your thrusters. You would also conserve your fuel in moments when it's not really beneficial to be using it that much anyway, i.e.; in a corridor with a low ceiling.

Also, crouching should not slow you down in gaining height.
Retracting legs instead of actually crouching down is needed.
Speed penalty of crouch should only activate on the ground :P
UWE have already stated that they will solve the crouch problem eventually.
But since these problems have such a huge impact on jetpacks I think it would be good to solve them soon.
Maybe rather than double tapping it, it only cuts in the jets at the top of your jump if you hold the button down, that way you don't get off the floor any faster than you normally do, but you don't have to double tap to fly.

I'd be ok with this compromise, though I'd still personally prefer the double tap.
I've lowered the vertical friction when you fly jetpack upward. It feels more responsive IMO.
So the aliens get a chance (=short time frame) to hit him, while he is not in the air.
But I think I would love the mechanic to be able to jump and than use the jetpack. Makes it more skill reliable. (Such a mechanic can be seen in the free ware game "Soldat", btw. very fun for a short break).
To counter the inbalance against ground-aliens, make the jetpack-key the sprint key instead the jump key. On top of this, it seams logical, because its to heavy to run with it, without locking your jaw in the metal grid floor every other time.
Allow marines to jump with all that weight, but implement a 50-50 chance of fallover. Cos any idiot who tries to jump with that much weight on his back will surely fall over half the time unless he is a trained gymnast.
There is nothing wrong with the current JP, the slow lift off is realistic and a good balancing mechanic.
