Heal & Damage over Time
Background:
Spitball has a high amount of bacteria. It rebuilds lost friendly tissue and bone and causes a mediocore necrosis to enemy tissue.

Gameplay:
The gorge hurks a lookie, if it hits a team mate or ally, it causes or enhances regenerative effects for 15 seconds.
If it hits an enemy, the dot ignores armor and does damage for 10 seconds for 1hp a second after dealing the current damage

Staminadrain would be around 15%, about 1.5 seconds recharge rate (2 shots per 3 seconds) to make up for the tactical damage boost

this is more meant as a backline finisher (a measily 10hp direct dot? shouldn't be too harmfull...) or a long range support for knoweldgeable gorges.
if you have played TF2 before, trustworthy players allways go for the medics.

while suffering from the dot, players wheeze and cough - jerking the view around, "wobbling" and inflicting effects like boomer bile on the view is not encouraged to the devs.

text in this color has been updated, modified or added.

dropped sub-ideas
AoE bursting of projectile either user controlled or range based

    Haha, so the gorge will have a spam move on right click AND left click. ^^

    In all seriousness, I think it would be cool to spice up web with some kind of extra effect, though I don't think a poison attack is fitting of the Gorge.

    I'd thought to replace or upgrade the old spitball with this completely. I feel it's to weak considering the general importance of the gorge as field healer and mobile defense factory.

    hmm...
    Yeah.

    updated first post.

    The blue on grey is hard on the eyes. Try #00FF00.

    This should be noted, but Mouse2 should be the same for every ability per alien. So skulk's Mouse2 is always leap. Fade's Mouse2 is always blink. Gorge's Mouse2 should always be healspray.

    I think that just replacing spit with an instant damage / instant heal; or stackable* dot / hot; attack would be ideal.
    (Basically, the only real change necessary is to let spit heal. The dot / hot is optional.)

    *each dot on a separate timer, so if the dot time was 2 seconds, and you hit the target twice a second (0.5 second attack cooldown)

    then (first hit occurs at t=0)
    hit 1: 0.0~2.0
    hit 2: 0.5~2.5
    hit 3: 1.0~3.0
    hit 4: 1.5~3.5
    hit 5: 2.0~4.0
    hit 6: 2.5~4.5
    etc.

    so:
    t=0.0~0.5: hits 1
    t=0.5~1.0: hits 1, 2
    t=1.0~1.5: hits 1, 2, 3
    t=1.5~2.0: hits 1, 2, 3, 4
    t=2.0~2.5: hits 2, 3, 4, 5
    t=2.5~3.0: hits 3, 4, 5, 6
    etc.

    Basically, each attack does a specific amount of damage/heal, it's just drawn out over time with DoT / HoT.

    didn't think of that, but a range based burst is stupid. out the burst goes, then.

    I find the spit is hard as hell to use, something about it does not feel natural, it feels jagged and clumsy, I don't really know how to explain it...

    But when it actually does hit, the skill : reward ratio of it makes it redundant either ways.

    For how hard it is to hit a dodging marine at any range, it should be more effective.
    even if the gorge is not supposed to be a front-line combat class, he should still be able to hold his own if he has enough skill.

    Take TF2 for example:
    The Medic is the main support class, he is usually seen in frontlines, however he relies heavily on teammates to defend him, as he has only two means of defending himself on his own, and one of them being his melee, his only ranged weapon is his syringe gun.
    The syringe gun is hard to use (compared to the hitscan bullet weapons and/or splash projectiles the other classes enjoy wreaking havoc with) since the projectiles (syringes) it shoots are slow moving, unprecise and follow a heavy arc, it requires skill and experience to use effectively at any range, but when you get used to it's drawbacks and circumvent them; the weapon can really wreck, since it actually does decent damage, obviously even the best medic can't go up to par against a decent soldier with his rocketlauncher.

    What I'm trying to say is that the gorge should have a high skill ceiling, maybe even higher then the other classes? (which he can, theoretically) but also a decent reward ceiling for having the skill necessary to use weapons effectively that are hard to use.
    The gorge's debilitating combat factor should not be his statistical damage values, but the difficulty of mastering his weaponry.

    The current gorge spit is really powerful, and is already a good longrange support ability.
    It deals a good amount of damage, and it slows marines and blurs their vision.
    No need to further buff this particular ability.
