How about some enw powerpack ideas?
I kind of like them but not in the way they were previous implented.
How about this:
- Very small range
- Not too expensive
- First you need to build a "Transmitter" in base. As long as the transmitter is powered all powerpacks will function.
- A powerpack sucks all the energy our of a room, so light only glow at 10% of their normal power.

Comments
The first of which is similar to your idea, in that a Power Pack would get power from an active Power Node. However, these would not rely on a Transmitter, as they operate on their own as back-up power generators when Power Nodes go out.
The second idea is to make it a Command Station ability. Using 75 or so energy, you can place a timed Power Pack around structures (or even as a forward base starter). It would be an interesting energy competitor with Nano-Shield IMO.
