New alien/cyst ability,
Hey everyone :)
I would like to share my ideas for NS2 or any modder who would like to adopt it into his mod.
As I love to watch NS2HDs videos as well watching other games like StarCraft 2 or Counter-Strike, every time I feel like there's something "missing".
1) When spectating any strategic game ( StarCraft 2 ) I love to see an quick production tab of the ongoing researches and buildings including their progress. Something similar to the refreshed marine HUD mixed with this: http://starcraftlictor.com/wp-content/uplo...duction-tab.jpg.
2) Have you ever seen the Intel Extreme Masters on ESLTV or any other stream ? In Counter-Strike they have a pretty nice overlay displayed on each side of the screen showing who carries the bomb or a defuse kit, the # of health ( also in a progress bar behind the players nick ) and of course the weapon. Take a look at: http://www.blackcorestudios.de/iem.png. I'd really love to see something like this for NS2 spectators as well, maybe it can be switched on and off.
3) When implementing 2) then it'd be also cool to allow clicking the life bars or the name in the scoreboard to switch the spectating view to the selected player.
4) Not sure about you guys but I honestly need bigger minimaps. Currently they're that small that I sometimes need ages to check where my mates are fighting at.
5) In my opinion it's better to select the egg when respawning either with the mouse wheel or with the movement keys ( WASD ). Some colorization for the info-text is also required as I remember me when reading the first time the hint and I was completely confused as it's sometimes a pretty short time reading the text and understanding which key is for which function. Something like: "Press (RED)[Mouse0](/RED) to respawn. Press (RED)[Mouse1](/RED) to cycle eggs" is better than the whole text in white and unformatted :)
6) Last suggestion but not least: "acid infestation" which is an alien (lategame) upgrade which is for mini-cysts, the big cysts or both. The cysts will be either fired by the alien commander or automatically triggered by near marines.
The cysts will spit some acid slime in the air which will hurt marines + buildings and lasts for a couple of seconds to do more minor damage over ~10secs. The slime also blurs the vision in the first few seconds but not completely until the damage ends. This ability has a cooldown of ~20-30secs per cyst.
In my opinion the marines actually don't really care about the cysts and the infestation, except it's near their base. This ability will force the marines to go for a little cyst hunt while they're attacking to prevent aliens having a great defensive support.
So what do you guys think about my ideas, especially the last one. Maybe any words from UWE about implementing some of them into the game ?
Best regards,
Chaoz
