Official Unknown Worlds server

Why is that is it the only server I cannot connect to?

It is in my range of playable ping, and has 15 ppl out of 20 and I cannot connect to it.

    Seems like the server crashed but is still connected and shows the last number of players. If you have menumod rightklick on the server and you will see that all players have no points.

    It seems alright if it wasn't for the insane connect-times, so yeah it's filled with phantoms most likely.

    Stalin gassed just as much. Mr. Lerk gassed 10x more then Hitler and Stalin when played by me.

    So I suppose the easiest solution would be to restart the server? Because I'd love to see a 10 on 10, 7 on 7 is getting boring :P

    Maybe it's time to start increasing server size? 12v12 possibly? Ns2 is optimized quite well now.

    8vs8 and maybe 10vs10 seems to work fairly well on the i5 2500k's (4.5+Ghz) servers, UWE's server is a i7 2600k running on stock speeds currently, it's a good thing they now have a beast right :)

    We've tried 28 players and I have to say that from 22-28, NS2 is still lacking for now...

    Even an i7-2600k is going to have some pretty heavy tickrate drops a few minutes into the game unfortunately. You need to get it over 4GHz to get reasonably stable performance throughout the round. I don't think it's a good idea for UWE to put up an official server that's going to perform badly as it might give players an even worse impression of game performance than is warranted.

    Perhaps, but it also gives them quick/real-time access to server data being stressed by players. I think, no I hope, the current playerbase at least now know and kinda accept the current performance, we all know it is only going to get better and better. So play on the server, UWE needs them data bits :P

    We did a Server test on it by spaming sentrys in sub around 20. Server ticks were at 30 (FPS50) but I got 50% choke as soon as I entered Sub.

    I think its the right choice to run the server on "normal" hardware. There is really something wrong with the server.exe if you need an 4,5 ghz monster to handle the game well.
    Im sure we dont need these kind of hardware soon anymore.

    So, please dont overclock your server UWE. All i wish is, that your server can stay at constant 30 ticks till endgame with lots of stuff in the map. This help more, than 1 other Server in the US with descent hardware.

    Yeah, as nice as it would be to have an ultra server that always works, having an ordinary one that lags gives them a better testbed to fix the problems. The decay of server performance as the game goes on is my #1 issue with NS2 right now by far.

    Heh they still have a C2D server laying around somewhere, which can be used any time I guess to test some older hardware for server. Amazingly it ran quite well compared to the big powerhouses out there (a bit more issues, but it ran :P)

    I would hope that by the time the game is released you can run at least a 16 player server on a c2d 3ghz without issue, also i hope the best servers around currently start upping the player limit, we should see 20 players ones more often now.

    Summit with 20 ppl isnt really fun, cause map isnt made for that ammount of players. I think Mineshaft and Docking are made for this.
    And i really dont know why a 14ppl game should be boring vs a 20 players game. But thats another discussion.

    So, you will never see a 20 slot Summit-game on HBZ. Maybe 16, if server is more optimized.

    I'm gonna miss the lower player count servers :( I have a feeling that once NS2 is released you'll need to choose between playing on 30 player public servers or gathers etc.
