Babblers Ahoy!

<div class="IPBDescription">Funny bug... or hilarious feature?</div> Playing on ns_nancy... as a gorge, was moving up to make def and off turrets outside of marine base late game (We had all three hives and pushed the marines back all the way).
I encountered a fade who had just taken out the res tower straight out from the marine base (The one just outside the square room with a square pillar in the center). I couldn't build a res tower due to ASC's nearby, so I hopped into the vent, and figured, what the heck... might as well distract the turrets while the fade takes out the factory. Started spamming babblers in, and expected to hear 'em die before they could do any damage.
I don't hear them die. I listen and listen and suddenly start hearing them xenocide!
I peek around the corner to see five babblers attacking the turret factory, without a single turret firing at them <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
I don't know if that's a bug or a feature but I was laughing so hard my sides hurt... watching babbler after babbler bite bite bite that factory, then explode in what might have been a blaze of glory were it not so funny <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
In the end, I took out all the defenses outside the marine's spawn with nothing but babblers <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

I've never thought to actually go gorge late game for babbler usage.

The turrets could've been firing at the gorge that spewed the babblers, or maybe it was a marine. ;o

Well, there was a gorge in a vent out of sight, dropping babblers out of it. They'd drop halfway down the wall, and die. I was the only one around, and there was a turret wailing away at the spot they were dropping from. Maybe they were trying to hit the gorge and the babblers were just dropping into the stream of fire.

My point exactly.
That's their "xenocide". WHEN THEY blow up, not when someone shoots them.. although that could be a xenocide as well. I'd have to have check, but it takes forever. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
(starting own server, making a bot, waiting for resources, getting all the hives up, having the damage indicator on.. then trying.. gah.. )
Nothing "buggy" happens except you get the kill.
So if you planted a bunch of tripmines, and then went onto the aliens or to observer, you'd get the kill as - "<yourname> killed <deadguy> with tripmine". Although, I wonder what would happen if you placed a tripmine, then killed yourself on it as an alien? Maybe just - "<yourname> killed self with tripmine."
Also, the same applies for gorges you put down turrets and then go to observer or switch teams. They still get the kill.
Anyway, I think it's a bug in the turret AI.
