I still have big problems hitting aliens with rifle-butt or axe. But I mainly blame it on the ###### fps. But Laosh Ra always manages to rifle-butt me when I am a skulk, like he is practicing this all the time.

(Off-Topic: And I would like a gas-release as a second fire-mode for the flamethrower. So you could pump it into the vents and create a rapid explosion inside of them, as a surprise for them sneaky aliens ;) )

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->I just don't get the initial post here. You'd rather try to hit an alien (Weapons: Teeth, Ranged Spikes, Kaiser Blades) with a CQB attack.. than buy a shotgun.. which is ranged and quite powerful. Hmm.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    (what does CQB mean?)
btw my initial post is only related to skulks: these are the only stunnable targets so i also prefer shotguns against other lifeforms.
    but as for skulks:
even if i hit a skulk with a shotgun, the enemy often survives. i often try to wait until the very last moment for maximum damage, but a skilled skulk will not just jump right in front of me as an easy target, so i only hurt him a bit. with a rifle-butt, it does not matter if i only "partly" hit him as it is still the same damage and the same stun. and i simply find it a lot easier to kill a stunned enemy with a rifle than to kill a moving enemy with a shotgun.

Are you saying that whatever weapon we have up, we'll melee with the axe? Like... CoD-style? I actually think that's not a terrible idea, as long as we still get the option to use the axe exclusively.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Im suggesting kinda the opposite... (only the pull out axe as extra weapon)

But i guess, i would also be fine with a cod style axe(if we remove the riflebutt)...

(since the welder also isnt/wont be a "weapon" anymore why not do the same with the axe...)

Yeah, I imagine it would replace the riflebutt (and secondaries for any non-heavy-duty weapons: pistol and shotgun, pretty much), but I would still want to be able to pull the axe out separately for axing down structures and such. May also need to make the GL a separate weapon (which I'm happy with).

The Rifle Butt changes the whole balance. Normaly in a 1vs1 a Skulk shoud win but with rifle butt the marine always gers the kill 100% of the time.

Even 2 Skulks aren't a big deal in the beginning, just butt em both and you have enough time to kill both.
Yesterday I managed to kill 4 Skulks attacking as a group just by shooting and butting. A short klick so i get out 5 LMG shots and then a rifle butt and the skulk is gone.
Getting surprised by a Skulk from behind while building? No problem 180 turn, rifle butt, jump, press Q and shoot the Skulk. Also it has a really high RoF IMO.

Those are some points that change the balance in the early game alot towards the marines.

You can riflebutt before turning. I'm not sure if it works 100% but usually it does.

I read about this but if you don't turn the skulk gets stuned at its place and he still can bite. With a 180 turn and then butting the skulk results in a pushback and stun istead of stun only.

You get pushed back by a riflebutt from the back too. Sometimes you go through the riflebutters legs too. Are you able to bite while being stunned? But well i'm not going to argue if it is better to turn or butt first but both work.

Yes you can still bite when you are stunned.
