At some later date, it might be useful to have a "join gather as commander" option to avoid the sometimes lengthy debate as to who wants to command. Tf2 gathers had a similar problem with medic which this system rectified.

Was some real awesome fun tonight. I recommend anyone to try it at least once to see what NS2 can be like when players really co-operate and commanders know what they're doing.

Yeah those were some great games! We have played several games already on turtle and the fact we can plan strategies as a team on previous experience also adds a lot to each game.
This is a really neat idea. It's a pity that we have to rely on one person for the server though. As awesome as he is for letting us use his machine that way, a more permanent solution will be needed for this system to take off.

BJHBnade_spammer provided a server, which is hosted on Inversion's servers. And HBZ also help a bit by lending out HBZ #2. So the server situation is pretty good at the moment. And we had alot of gathers going these past few days, lots of great games. I also got admin rights for the "Match Box NS2" steam group, and I will try to announce there as well when there are gathers going on. But the main concept is mouth-to-mouth, telling fellow ns2 players to join up.

I would say that you can mostly ignore the server vote part at this moment because it's usually up to couple of individuals to get the server running for us. So we pretty much go what we can and don't have a lot of options.

First you sign up for the gather on ensl, and vote for server and map. Then you wait until 12 people in total have joined up. Music will start playing as soon as that happens, make sure you're around your computer to hear it. Then you vote for team captains. When you do this the music disappears. Then the two captains pick teams. Then you can close the browser, and join ensl.org teamspeak. Then the 6v6 games begin!

Thank you really much! That is kind!
