Conflict-v2.0
CHAPTER 1
Jay shuffled noiselessly down the passageway, he was breathing heavily and his heart rate was ever increasing as his mind came up with ideas as to what could be lurking in the shadows. His hands, soaked with a cold sweat clenched tighter around his heavy machine gun as he nervously scanned the room for danger.
He was wishing that he hadn’t got separated from the squad.
Suddenly his motion sensor picked up a presence. Jay turned into the darkness.
If something was there. He wouldn’t be able to see it.
“Identify yourself!” he heard himself shout. He scowled at himself miserably; he had just given himself away. If whatever it was hadn’t noticed him, it had now.
As his eyes, wide with terror and now becoming accustomed to the darkness
He could make out movement. He felt the hairs rise on the back of his neck and he froze in fear as the figure moved closer.
Now he could see a vague outline moving silently towards him,
Jay wasn’t going to wait until it found him.
He pulled the trigger.

The gun was empty
He knew he had no clips left…but he still desperately searched his belt.
“This is it,” he thought to himself
“Im a gonner” Jay closed his eyes; it would all be over soon.
CHAPTER 2
“There you are soldier! “
Jay looked up from the corner he had been cowering in, to see the smug grin across Reco’s face
“We’ve been looking for you. You ever read ‘Yamazaki's definitive vision of Murphy's Combat Laws?’ “
“No I bloody didn’t, “ shouted Jay.
Jay wasn’t sure if it was possible for a human to perform such an expression but he swore that Reco’s grin grew even wider.
“Lone individuals never survive if the rest of the team is safe at the base camp.”
“You were all at the base camp?!” Shouted Jay accusingly.
“sure” replied Reco
“Commanders orders were to regroup. Didn’t you get the radio message?”
“no I di-“
Jay looked down at his Radio, and at the small button which accusingly was flashing,
Signalling that it had been deactivated.
“I turned it on! I swear!”
“Here” said Reco, and taking Jays radio out of his unresisting hands, clicked the button down hard.
“It gets a little stiff after the first few weeks.” Said Reco
Jay’s radio suddenly crackled noisily as the commander gave his orders
“Get to sector B now! “
“Which way is sector B?” asked Jay
“follow the gun-fire” replied Reco
CHAPTER 3
It was running fast. Reco had dived into a side corridor, along with the marines that had sense to take cover.
Everyone was unloading clip after clip into it. Jay had fired up his jetpack in time as the charging beast had made a charge at him and was shooting from the air.
It came to a dead end, then turned around for a second charge.
“What is that!?” Shouted Jay over the gun-fire “
“It’s an Onos!”” Reco shouted back.
”Why wont it die!”
Jay’s jetpack was starting to splutter, and was losing control,
“Not now! Goddam it! Its running outta fuel!”
He tried to pull up as the jetpack lost control; he was flying over the Charging Onos when it blew out, dropping jay onto the Onos’ back.
“Well you don’t see that often,” replied Reco
The Marines were taking time to reload their weapons, some already taking aim.
“Hold your fire” ordered Reco, the grin starting to reappear
“I’m sure Jay can handle it. ”
Jay clumsily took a grenade out of his side belt, whilst trying to hold on. He activated it and with caution, threw it down the Onos’ throat.
The Onos’ bucked Jay off of its back, creating a large dent in his armour.
He looked up from the metal floor. The Onos had turned around and was already making a charge for him.
He groped in the darkness for his heavy machine gun.
“Open Fire!” Shouted the commander through the radio.
The Onos was picking up speed.
The marines opened fire but the Onos ignored it, infuriated with Jay.
“Its un-stoppable!” shouted one of the marines
“Cover me!” shouted Reco, he ran and grabbed Jay, pulling him into the siding.
Just in time before the charging Onos dramatically exploded, covering the room in slime.
The room became deadly silent once more.
A few minutes past, as the last few minutes of mayhem flashed through their memory.
At Last, the commander came in on the radio
“Good work team, now infiltrate the kaara territory and destroy those hives!”
“Roger that” replied Reco
“Is it always this dangerous?” Asked Jay
The whole squad stopped and looked at Jay hard. Reco’s Grin suddenly appeared.
“Oh, no…” Jay looked relieved
“It gets much more dangerous than that…if we leave it any longer they might evolve into….”
Jay looked from man to man, these men had experience, he could tell from each of their grimaced faces they knew what he was talking about…
“What?” asked Jay cautiously?
“Fades…ill tell you about them on the way. The basic rule I tell my partners is if you see one, try not to lose your head.”
“Don’t panic, right.” Said Jay.
“Yes and no” said Reco, as he turned with the others towards the darkness.
“I mean literally as well”
Jay thought about this and then, his eyes widened. “What!”
He looked around cautiously, as he ran after him…
Into the darkness………..
