<div class="IPBDescription">Player orders persist in the commander view</div>I was thinking just a moment ago about how difficult it can be to remember which Marines have been given what orders where as the situation changes in a game of NS2. How does the following sound?
- When a player is given an order, create an "order token" at their waypoint visible only to the commander with an icon according to what type of order the player was given.
- Clicking on the order token equates to clicking on the player to whom it belongs.
- Change the move command (S key) to "Clear Waypoint" - synonymous with "Stop" in other RTS games.
The whole thought behind this is that rather than chasing players to assign them with orders, once an order is assigned, it can be moved regardless of where the player is on the map at the time. This way, the commander only needs to pay attention to where the action is, and doesn't necessarily have to go looking for players unless to spam medpacks/ammo, etc. Also, it leaves the commander with a persistent reminder of who is doing what and where.

When I say bump, I mean the order will flash for the marine, get bigger, maybe make a noise to get their attention. Would be useful if a marine is ignoring the comm.
So they just need to add some icons for grouporders and WP.
It would be nice to add to the above that when a player(s) are selected a similar line appears connecting them to their waypoint. Possibly, then, an icon would appear next to the marine to indicate the order given, because you won't be looking directly at the waypoint.
The question is... should the line be as the crow flies or a traced route through the level like the marines see?
