I want to edit the sound files, I used FMOD Programmers & designer to try and extract the sound files but it only gave me the first soundfile of each file. How do i open these files so i can play around with them?
Maybe the dev' can answer me as soon as they have one minute. Don't forget me :o(
hey Tekj there are tools to extract sounds from the .fsb files try 'music player ex' there are others too
if u want to mod ns2 sound u will need FMOD version 4.38.00
tho at this stage of the beta, gameplay sound is something that is a little tricky to mod because the source audio is not publicly available. ill look into including the ns2 project file and source audio in the build eventually so that u could replace sounds.
level ambient sounds are probably the only things that can be customized right now. ill be making a video tutorial on how to do that very soon.

The reason TeK wants this is because he wants to mod the sound files of NS2 into 8bit sounds for use in the upcoming NS2D. http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/forums/in...howtopic=115651 I believe that this little free to play project, heavily based on NS2, could help promote some awareness about NS2, maybe not alot, but a bit? :) People could learn how the game plays out, and feel some of the great aspects of the game. TeK have tried many programs to open the .fsb files, including music player ex as you suggest, but with no luck extracting more than the first sound of the files, with any of the programs. I guess we need the source files? We would love to have some good sound files, and the originals in 8bit would be very cool for this project. I should say this project is all Jason's idea, me and TeK just jumped on the bandwagon, I learned gml, and TeK is into FX making. Therefore Jason should have the most credit/praise imo! ;)
the problem is this, even if u had the source audio files u wont be able to make them to sound like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GbfCZx1tRUs
simply by re-sampling to 8 bit. the result would just sound like the original ns2 sounds but lower quality and wont have that characteristic 8bit retro sound
in order to do that u have to get something like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-k6RFlMdD4A which emulates the old commador 64 SID chip sounds

and synthesize all new sounds for ur mod.
