Skulk Leap while in a Jump

i know, should be in different section.
Hey so i'm wondering if any of my fellow ns2 players out there agree with me in this little concept. Skulks should be able to trigger the leap ability while they are in mid-air if that means falling from a wall or while jumping. I posted this here so it could get more recognition cause i really want peoples opinions on it.

Yeah, if you're on a wall for sure. It's extremely neccessary

    +1

i instinctively try to leap while jumping. I'm picturing tf2 scout-like jumping mechanics for skulks.

if that comes back, so should bhop and actual marine movement (not the sluggish design it is now)

The sluggish design is the new trend and its here to stay aparently.

Better get used to it. :)

All I want with the skulk is good air control...

All I want is a leap that can propel me across a room rather than 5 ###### meters. Is it affected by FPS or something?

EDIT: I just checked in-game and I guess I was exaggerating.

It's more like 1.5 meters. What the hell?

This probably won't happen. Skulks with Leap are already quite "OP". :P

Lerks are pretty much improved Skulks, with way more air control, and a ranged weapon (that is also deadly at close range).

Yes, being able to leap in midair just feels better.
  • SkymanderXSkymanderX Green Marine - The Few, The Proud, The Green. Join Date: 2011-07-29 Member: 113006Members
Skulk leal isn't really OP and adding this doesn't really make the skulk a more OP then it was anyway it just makes it easier get off walls and such.

No idea what you're talkiing about. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXRTSq3xxDg people should l2leap.

edit: but I do agree that you should be able to leap while in mid-air.

mid air leap makes no sense and feels wrong. Current leap is cool, specially if you do the double leap trick

Why does our mid-air leap feel wrong?

well, from what i have seen, skulks don't have rocket engines on their feet to change direction/speed mid air.

Now i don't say it can't make sense on the gameplay side, but from a phyical/intuitive point of view its not natural.

Hmmm, I see what your saying. I suppose if your looking for an explanation for it in lore then you could say this: everytime a skulk trys to leap midair, he calls upon the Kharaa bacterium to for a small plateu under the skulk then it pushes off that. Not what I was thinking of originally but it would look like a scout double jump from tf2.
  • kababkabab Join Date: 2003-12-15 Member: 24384Members, Constellation
It was perfectly fine in NS1 and gave the skulks a much more free feeling...

Since its beta would be a good time to test, it shouldn't take the dev's long to implement.

Or we could say, considering we probably aren't on earth the gravity is different, making the usual things that are impossible, possible. lol...

I know how to leap, I played NS1. It just doesn't propel me anywhere in NS2; I've watched NS2HD vids and seen him get a lot more distance out of his leaps. No idea if it's FPS-dependant like jetpack was in NS1 or what.

this picture pretty much sums it up. They completely nerfed leap from ns1. It shouldn't even be called leap but rather mini-leap which they removed, and renamed mini-leap to leap. (...) leap distance must be increased, and leap should work mid air as it did in ns1. Skulks need must be more agile then they are now. lets not forget without skill based movement you end up leaping in straight lines..

Jaweese made wonderful movement mod, which I hope he keeps working on. everyone should check it out!

I'm all for it, compared to ns1 it feels like the skulks are dead weights.

Taking out bunny hopping I understand, if not agree with.

Why the rest of movement, skulk leap, marine agility etc has been touched I still don't understand.

Even if its still being worked on, it should be worked on from a base of being close to NS1

Yes it is FPS related. Better FPS faster movement.
