Not trying to show something that is new, trying to show how insanely silly it is in that location on summit. You can technically burn the eggs on the other side of the Hive.
I find it entertaining, this isn't a bug posting Forum, it's general discussion :)
As a recall wasn't the flamer in that position stuck? cause being able to burn the hive through the floor is nice and all, but when your sorta trapped there right next to alien spawn, all it really takes is a skulk/ fade to catch you reloading, and your finished

I imagine the opening of this dialog will lead to several implementations of his work from the prototype mod as well.
It's actually quite exciting, and I expect community work to be included in the game.
I just find it funny that they focus more on having victory eggs (which I do enjoy), than having a flame thrower that has correct ammo reporting and proper collision. Yes, this has been a known bug for a very long time, so why does it take someone in the community to have to fix it in order for it to be implemented?
I personally don't use the Flamethrower and actually in this instance I automatically picked it up (which is another bug currently) and decided "eh, I will just stick with this noob cannon" and started burning up the hive through the wall/ground.

We have looked at Schimmel's flamethrower implementation, and it has some really nice aspects, but also has some problems, and is not ultimately how we want to fix the flamethrower. The Flamethrower will go through a big overhaul, but it is going to be a time consuming task to implement smartly and efficiently, and there are a lot of different aspects to it and we want to make sure it is done right.

Just can agree with cory. My implementation is not the ultimate solution for the flamethrower. I don't even thing that it's much better, it has its own flaws. If you want to make a realistic flame thrower, that looks awesome and behaves as expected, you need a different approach

at its current state its lightsaber actually, and ever since flamethrowers came out they have been nothing but a problem.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I don't think they ever purposely intended to program them in.

Made to do exactly that.
thats my reaction to when I first heard about them. I still can't believe they added such silly weapon into ns, it just doesn't belong in here. It sure does makes sense on paper, or whenever you might discuss it between friends but in the actual game - no way. It just has very poor role in the game aside from the bugs this weapon brings it lacks design/role like for example welder in ns1.
at first this weapon suppose to counter infestation but based on how infestation turned out to be, which means completely nerfed - this weapon isn't actually even needed. So then this weapon became the fade counter, again bad design. Their are other ways we can think of countering the fade but its clear they don't know themselves the role of this weapon. it just needs to be removed or designed with better/clear role. (ofc fix the bugs first)

Have faith. There is plenty of time until release, plenty of time to fix it.

"random post" uses not "funny or interessting video" - its super effective! :P

.. and for every patch I wait like for xmass to see what's new.
This "open" Beta design of development is rly cool, because every major "leap" its like to have always a new game :)
