<div class="IPBDescription">Aliens</div>I saw the post in the general forum, and had a brain wave. So this is sort of a repost.
Everyone knows that Umbra and Fury (etc) are not used as effectively as they could be by the commander. My suggestion is that aliens form relationships with structures they are in range of.
Say a Skulk is in range of a whip/crag - For every 15 seconds he is, 1 second is added on to the time it takes to break that relationship when you move out of the structures activated ability range.
So even when out of range, if the commander activates umbra/fury, it still has an effect on the player.
This would:
- Effectively extend the range of umbra and fury for players who tend to move out of range as they attack marines. Usually hiding behind structures before they do.
- Allow players to plan attacks, by sitting next to crags/whips for an allotted time before they attack. With direction from the commander.
- Help to end stalemates, so when an alien team is attacking and have lots of forward defences, abilities can be activated as they enter Marine Start.
- It wouldn't be abusable, as it would relate to individual structures. So it would not stack.

Comments
Another way would be to allow gorges to activate the ability by hitting the use key on the chamber.
Maybe small bonuses that stack the longer your around structures.
Some Examples.
Crag: for every 15 seconds within proximity of a crag you get 2% extra armor for a max of 10%.
Whip: for every marine kill that happens within range of a whip the aliens in the area get 3% bonus damage for a max of 15%
Shade: for every alien that dies the aliens within range of the area get 3% bonus speed for 15%.
Of course the wouldn't multiply with the number of structures. You could have 10 crags and 100% more armor.
This is just an idea. I'm not even necessarily to found of it because I feel it lacks creativity, but I think it is moving in a good direction.
