Yeah but then you would have a continuous change between the two modes. (Maybe not if you can somehow synchronize the beats) So it does not completely remove the possibility of having people playing with unlit, but at least it makes it quite painful to the eyes.
You're jokishly saying that, but that is very much possible. Clients are completely unrestricted in what they do inside the Lua-VM at the moment. Eventually that will no longer be (I understand certain functions are being disabled, and client-side DLL-modules are supposed to go the way of the dodo before 1.0 too).

Well, they want to maximize the amount of hardware that can play NS2 right now. I know on my laptop, r_mode unlit really helps me get to a playable framerate at 20-30fps. However, it would be nice if UWE could make a separate server option right now to force disable those console commands among clients that join. Would help for the tournament.

I actually met an aimbotter in NS2. Not "he's so good he must be aimbotting!" but my teammate and I watched him solo a blinking fade in a single LMG magazine. He admitted to it too (but then later denied it).

Also, this is a good sign that NS2 is getting popular enough for the attention of griefers/cheaters.
Oh, and by bring it, I mean, we're going to bring our mediocre skills to a tournament filled with much better players, so you better watch out cause we may just embarrass ourselves completely.
All people looking for a team added to front page. Sproggalots and UWE added, we are now at 13! Only three more slots! To those forming a pub team, it would probably be a good idea to form it with 9 people or so, just in case not everyone can make a particular match.
Regarding possible hacking - I watch alot of NS2. I am recording and commentating every single game. If have a reasonable suspicion that someone just 1 LMG mag'd a Fade - their team will be out on the pavement so fast they'll think they blinked in the real world. Please, no more talk of hacking in this thread. This thread is for tournament organisation, and another thread could be started if you really want to get paranoid about it.

So, we have 16 Teams.
Did we have 4 groups (3 games for each team) for example then, were the the 1st and 2nd placed reach next round or have we a "real" ko-system, were the 1st gameloss is the end of tournament.

If we play on 2 days (Fr. and Sa.) with 4 games per day, the preliminary round would take 3 weeks with 24 games. Dont know, how to handle this commentary-wise. On the other hand, it would be really hard that your tournament end with one loss.

Im sure it is possible to write something like an aimbot in lua also.
We are talking about 450$ here, hmm *start-Paranoia"* :)

I would like that everyone that joins to make a comment:
If you are EU or US, Languages you speak, and maybe age.
I would also need some contact to EU server/clan admins, so we can organize training games that are not random public. :)
