I suggest that the marine commanders are provided different types of suits to research. Players will then have the ability to purchase armor from the store. Along with these suits the commander can also research minuscule upgrades that players can purchase from the store.
I would like feedback from the community on the ideas and/or improvements and hope that the developers will take some of them into consideration
The Environment suit
The environment suit will be in the store at the beginning of the game and the commander researches upgrades for it as the game goes along or it must be researched separately then purchased from the store,
The environment suits main purpose is for going into areas that are heavily infested. My idea for the infestation and pustules is that the longer they are alive, the stronger they become. After a while the pustules will start to convert the atmosphere around them, creating a haze to the area and possibly slowly draining health from marines that are not in an environment suit.
Marines in the environment suit will be given a way to see through the haze and aliens won’t be affected by it at all. The environment suit will also allow the marine to be unaffected by lerk gas, or when it is first researched it will have a 50% resistance to lerk gas and then further research will make it 100% resistant to lerk gas.
This suit will also have a bonus when the wearer in question also uses the flamethrower. A fuel tank can be purchased with the environment suit which is worn on the back and not only increases ammo capacity but also removes the need to reload. The environment suit is also useful on infestation due to the ability that allows the user to sprint on infestation.
Now to the downsides…the environment suit is not designed for combat. The max armor for the environment suit is lower than the default armor. Also when wearing the environment suit you will not be able to see to the sides of you as well and sound will be muffled
The Combat Suit
The combat suit will be researched by the commander and purchased at the store by players and upgraded by the commander as the game progresses
The combat suit’s purpose is to serve as a midway point between the exo-suit and default armor. The combat armor is heavy and cumbersome but offers excellent protection (perhaps more armor than the default marine armor but less than the exo) The benefits of this suit besides superior armor is more ammo capacity and a bonus for the heavy rifle also the suit’s helmet (which could either come with it or be purchased separately) provides 10% lerk gas resistance (maybe). The downsides of the suit are decreased movement speed, vision be slightly obstructed by the suit’s helmet and the inability to use the shotgun due to the fact the suits gloves are too thick to pull the trigger.
The Heavy Rifle
The heavy rifle is well… a heavy rifle and excels against armored targets, (it does extra damage vs. armor) couple this with a built in grenade launcher that shoots high explosive concussive grenades that does massive damage against structures and slows down aliens. Sense the developers are thinking about giving the regular grenade launcher a concussive shock that slows aliens why not add it into a new weapon and make the rifle grenade launcher shoot less powerful grenades ( a side grade for the rifle instead of an upgrade). The Heavy rifle’s downsides is it has a smaller clip (30) and longer reload times for both the main rifle and the grenade launcher
Miniscule Items
Can be purchased by marines at the store, is added to the load out cost much like the alien menu
Gasmask- gives marines 20% resistance to lerk gas (possibly added to the store after the environmental suit is added)
Ammo bags- give’s marines extra carrying capacity for ammunition
Amunition types- Different amunition types reserched by the commander for example giving the shotgun explosive amunition
Well this is the end of my very long post I thank all that took the time to read it, I hope the devs like some of the ideas and I am looking forward to hearing what everyone thinks

i want that ingame (maybe a mod cause i dont think uwe has the time to model all this stuff) in the alpha so i can test it out :)
would be really immersive to have muffled sounds while walking through the mist of the croach... and O gasmask, i love you
i'd always purchase one and stalk people in the ready room with it à la "are you my mommy?" :3

That was an annoying episode. I hate kids.
Relevant: it adds a lot more content to be balanced. We are getting an exo suit anyway, though so that should be enough, right?
