I'd really like to see aliens have innate regeneration everywhere (not require infestation). Increase the regeneration rate when standing on infestation, but please give a small innate regen everywhere. Infestation isn't normally at forward positions, and that's where innate regen is useful (a skulk/lerk trapped in a vent, etc).
On the same subject, aliens need a regeneration upgrade (similar to NS1) that regenerates even faster.

Adding self regenaration would only remove some teamplay. I think it works quite well now.
And yes, i know where your coming from, more than once i was a skulk hiding in a corner and eating marines walking by, so healing there would have helped. But there is the new upgrade where you get health after each kill. (forgot that one before). So i think its pretty balanced right now.
1) Slow innate regen of health/armor everywhere, same as NS1.
2) Faster innate regen of health/armor/energy on infestation.
3) Regeneration upgrade adds everywhere innate regen rate + crag heal rate into an upgrade.
Slow innate regen doesn't negate the gorge. Innate regen everywhere is useful when ambushing marines and regaining a little of lost health while waiting for your next ambush victim.
I don't think aliens should have a basic regeneration rate except on infestation. However, I like the idea of increasing the rate of regeneration when on infestation as opposed to what it currently is (seems too slow right now).
This will improve when more people start playing gorge and alien commander.
