<div class="IPBDescription">Mode idea, what do you think?</div>I thinking about some idea of a mode for Natural Selection 2.


Gameplay:
Two Teams like in NS2, aliens and marines, but the marines have no Infantry Portal or any base, same with aliens.
The Aliens got some spawn place which is only reachable through vents, no marines can move to this place.
There is a ready room like in ns2, but the big diffrence is, after you choose your team, aliens or marines, you have on marine side the choice of these classes:
(names and numbers are examples)
1. Assault: with a Rifle and a 4 x grenades.
2. Supporter: with a Shotgun and a 1x depolaybe Sentry turret (200 Bullets) and unlimited but respawning ammopacks
3. Pyro: with a Flamethrower and flares
4. Medic: with a pistol, syringes (4x 100HP over 4 seconds) and unlimited but respawning Medpacks
5. Heavy: with a Minigun
Every class got a "class" sign on his body and arm or just a icon over his head, but this would be a turn off
If a marine got like 20 HP, they lay on the ground (invisible morphing to a new class, like if aliens morph to the egg) every marine can be revived by any member of their team with the Use button.
Maybe a flashanimated "motion tracker" on the GUI of the marines.
Instead of classes, the marines just choose their weapons from a pull-down menu if the game count to start and they are freezed.



The aliens got only one class, its a mix between fade and skulk.
The Alien:
1. Claws (like fade claws)
2. wallwalking (if it is crouching)
3. tail attack (like fade attack 2)
4. Spitting acid it stay on the ground also on marines but it cost the alien health (for example -20HP every acid attack)
5. Aliens regenerate automaticly (every 10 seconds like 20HP)
Aliens can destroy lights, marines got a flashlight for that.
(all weapons just examples)


Goal for Aliens:
- Kill all marines

Goal for Marines:
Example Mission:
1. Go to the elevator (trigger1)
2. lift up to the Deck with the elevator (just USE on the buttons at the elevator)
3. Move into the ship. (trigger2)
(there will be a lot of vents for the aliens)



So its kinda like a Left 4 Dead and aliens (the movie) mix.
Do you think it could be fun?

    I believe you mean an "Evacuation" mod? It sounds like a fun idea, if it can match L4D in its fun factor. L4D is fun because of the unpredictability of the Infected: They can spawn almost anywhere, and the types of Special Infected spawned are different each time.

    Just my 2 cents.

    There is a bot in ns2, i guess a very simple "on enemy see, run to it" bot could be done with a bot too. so they can get a diffrent skin.
    "Evacuation" is something diffrent, exit means exit :P
    Exit a building, exit to life.
    The name isn't important, the gameplay is.

    Maybe i will create some prototype soon, i play a bit around with the code.

    Maybe it would already be possible to get it work right (even if it's of course better to wait due to game rapidly changing) but the problem right now is that the modding community isn't very big. I mean the mod team would at very least need:

    - A coder (coding the class system, the alien weapons, equipment (syringes) and map triggers)
    - a mapper
    - a modeller (at least your alien class would need a modified fade model if it should be wallwalking, tail attack... such. And view models for tail attack, syringes and stuff would be necessary, too)

    Honestly, I don't see how you could get together a mod team right now that would be capable of doing this. Everything of needs to interact, I mean the code neads to trigger model animations properly, the mapper needs some way to place the triggers from the coder in the map ...

    maps can come from the community, the modeller isn't needed for first time, the fade can be used:

    Just black, would do the job.
    The fade also has animations for crouching.
    Just made him a bit faster and give him new weapons and the crouch wallwalk thing.

    And the coding, is not very much if someone know what he did.
