Ping issues

I am thinking of buying a copy of NS2, so before that I want to clear one question:

How is the ping? What is a playable maximum?

I live in Bejing, China now, so I expect that most of the servers will be kinda far from me, so I am asking for an honest opinion.

    Have you played other online fps games from there? If you have you probably find most of the servers with best ping for you were in Japan or Korea.

    As you see there are none in Asia. The best bet you will have is Australia. Some months ago I used to see a server in Japan but thats not up anymore.

    From Hong Kong I can get under 100 ping on Aussie servers, that shoots up to sometimes over 300 on European servers. You can still play and do well in roles which don't require aiming. Don't expect to get lots of kills though.

    Would probably be awfully laggy, unless the 100 ping on aussie servers is true.

    scoreboard displays wrong ping. use net_stats to see the correct one. They will be the same at the start, but scoreboard will lower after a while, saying 100 ms when it in fact is 600 ms.
