Wow, it's been a long time since I was a posting madman on these here NS forums.
I wanted to share with everybody a music video that I just released with my band, Great Caesar. (www.greatcaesarband.com) We recorded it completely live with just 2 cameras at a party show at University of Connecticut!
Please give some feedback. I'd love to know what everybody thinks.

Always glad to see a hornline in bands.
Always glad to see a hornline in bands.
Agree on why the video works, and horns in general, but the song didn't do much for me.
To be more specific on why I'm not sold on the song: it's the lyrics. Parts of the sound are similar-ish to something Weezer might do if they used horns (e.g. Undone (Sweater Song)) but the lyrics don't sell me. It's like: '"there's this girl, this is what she does, this is what she thinks, this is what you think". Loads of songs are about that but they manage to say something interesting or encapsulate your emotions better. This song's basically saying "this girl loves the ****", but not in an interesting way. There's no wordsmithing going on here, it's just telling it how it is. Maybe I'm being harsh, it's unfair to say all songs have to have Shakespearian lyrics, especially if you're trying to get at very raw human emotions, but if you're aiming for desire the music doesn't reflect that except in the passion of the chorus and the delivery of the vocals in parts. These click better in the chorus but immediately subside into the rambling verse which instantly brings you back down and kills the energy. You get the impression this is a song everyone sings together about this girl, it doesn't feel that personal like it's coming from an inner voice more like something you might hear the jocks singing in the bus on the way to their next match. The chant at the end, while musically seeming shoehorned in, seems to confirm that notion.
Technically the audio mix is pretty good, especially the quality of the vocals (it helps that they're delivered very well to begin with), it's just a pity they weren't exactly saying much. I really would have liked to hear more of the 'sweet banana' bit as a feature of the song, as I think it has a really good hook.
Overall I prefer the more jazzy stuff on the band website as it's got a more original and cohesive sound. VIP is great and Tango's pretty nifty, too.
Hope that's not too harsh, I tried to give a balanced opinion. Feedback's feedback: you can take it or leave it, but only if it's there.
