Why you should stop whining about fade

Now, currently, I notice most fades have a thought process similar to this:
"Oh look a marine.
Better spam mouse1 with weapon 1 out.
Oh no I didn't hit ###### and now I am dead :("

Fear no longer, baddies.

I am about to introduce you to a revolutionary tactic.

Now, assuming your commander isn't actually a chimpanzee mashing on the keyboard and mouse randomly(More likely then you think on most servers), by the late game, the time with the most fades, you'll probably have at least melee 2.

Now, I bet you want to rush in there with your spammy clickfest claws, and cut through the marines like a lawnmower through squirrels.

You are not a skulk, this is bad thinking. Very bad.

Now, let's look at weapon 2 for a bit. You may be thinking "lol wepin 2 issss so sl0w an ###### u fucin nub"

Well, let's assume that your opponents have 100 health, 90 armor.

Weapon 2, as you may have noticed, does heavy damage, which means it cuts through armor.

Unupgraded, it does 160 damage, enough to take a fully upgraded marine down to 30 health and no armor.

Melee 1, it does 176 damage, taking the marine down to 14 health.

Melee 2, it does 192 damage, enough to instakill anything.

Melee 3, if my previous calculations weren't correct, will actually travel through time and space and kill not only the marine, but his family, anyone he's ever met, anyone his family has ever met, anyone those people have ever met, and then some.

    They changed weapon2 to scale with weapon1? Huh, didn't think they'd remember to do that. W2 was crap in 179 as it didn't instakill things.

    Although honestly weapon1 does pretty insane damage anyway, fades do tonnes of damage and with the slowdown you don't have a lot of excuse to miss.

    Melee 2 is powerful, but any good marine will dodge it since it has a like .5 second of warmup and you're motionless when you do it. But your point about spamming melee 1 is well taken. 3 hits from melee 1 should be easy to do on any marine if you use blink and melee1 judiciously.

    Hes bad against structures now. But thats a good thing. Its those damn turrets that are still tuff to break down. (if located correctly around marine start) I guess you could say the game is poised for the Onos. Gorge bile bomb is not great at mass sentries it just gets out ranged.

    Fade weapon 2 is basically taunt kills from tf2. Fun and cool if you actually kill something, but most of the time the enemy will kill you or just walk out of the way.

    Yeah, while I see the potential for the weapon 2, with damage slowdown its so much more useful to spam weapon 1. The key seems to be to know your limit, if you swipe 5 times and don't get a kill, retreat. You really need to pay attention to your energy counter.
