Macs & Mines

hey there,

i had recently an idea how to possibly add back in mines to the game:
what would you think about an option to drop mines with a mac? each mine
cost p.res or t.res (depending on future res models of course) placed by
the commander. A researchable upgrade in the robotics factory unlocks the ability.

you would have then the option to drop mines behind a turret, or behind an rt, around ips
etc. i liked the option to place mines in ns1 and it would be even better if you could
place them yourself as commander.

tell me what you think, and sorry if the same idea already appeared before!

Isn't it already planned by the devs ?

I would rather be able to place a mine as a marine, because the commander doesn't have the same strategic outlook as the troops on the ground. Also, placing it as a marine, you could have more precise placement of your mines. I don't mind either way I suppose but my personal view is the same as that with hydras currently, I want to be placing them on a wall occasionally because the game is fought in a 3D environment and sometimes it provides a strategic advantage to place things on walls. Hopefully not everything will be dropped on the floor, because that could get boring and predictable.

I agree, i would rather have the ability as a troop on the ground to place the mines as i see fit, rather than have the mac plod it's way around the place planting mines in what would fast become very predictable areas.

why not go both ways? my girlfriend does it, it's quite enjoyable.

marines and commanders should be able to place them, albeit I think each should be different, maybe the commander ones are larger and more destructive?

and also: they should be remote mines, which you can later research to make proximity triggered also.
