<div class="IPBDescription">Can't wait.</div>I'm not sure about you guys, but I'm sure as hell happy that the patch is taking long, it can only mean one thing: lots of stuff and optimizations coming! I'm hoping for the cysts to be implemented in this patch, it's so exciting to have such a huge game changing mechanism implemented.
Are you guys glad too?
What are you guys hoping for/excited about?

there are no patch-notes yet. but you can follow the twitter, progress tracker and <a href="https://docs.google.com/a/accedobroadband.com/document/d/139ySUrBsO0m0Z4ilq0YsDEHJLQhBa6RrIjJIsckL2kE/edit?hl=en&authkey=CLCo8Z0J" target="_blank">Dev docs</a> and get a rough idea of what to expect.

You can check the Natural Selection 2 official development Twitter:
<a href="http://twitter.com/#!/NS2" target="_blank">Natural Selection 2 (NS2) on Twitter</a>
or better yet you can check the progress bar:
<a href="http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/progress" target="_blank">NS2 development progress</a>
Or better then that you can see Charlie's personal design log:
<a href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/139ySUrBsO0m0Z4ilq0YsDEHJLQhBa6RrIjJIsckL2kE/edit?hl=en&authkey=CLCo8Z0J&pli=1" target="_blank">NS2 Design Log</a>
<b>Or the best of the best, a complete site/development progress tracker:</b>
<a href="http://www.play4dead.com/ns2/" target="_blank">Natural Selection 2 Developer Tracker</a>
(you'll know exactly every detail with this site, it's like a personal stalking tool. You can see when and where they use the bathroom, even the size of their nose hairs...)
EDIT 2:
DAMN YOU TAXEEEEENNNNOOOOOOOO!!
Yeah, I saw them aswell, the only bonus I see with the new infestation is that Gorges will be able to help spread it.
The only problem with Infestation is that the DI covers RT nodes. It doesn't affect you early game as it takes ages to spread.
I also suggest putting the energy that the DI uses lower so you can properly spread it. One of the main unfairness with the Aliens is that they have to make DI over the node when Marines can just send a MAC out and build one without having to push their territory.

On the other hand marines cannot place any structure on alien infestation so it's sort of balanced. And marines need power for their structures.
That video is a little better. You can see the Cysts more clearly.
And by 'gorges' can help spread them, how is that possible? can they place them too? or...

Gorges will be able to puke small Cysts anywhere (not sure if on walls too?), which can connect to Hive and they won't expire like the current heal spray decal.
3 PRes per small Cyst last I checked on Design Log.

Oh, awesome!
Sounds like a great feature

3 PRes? Lame.
Creating Cysts require hive energy so creating small Cysts should require Gorge energy. It is only fair.
They renamed pustule to cyst.
So cysts are the same as the former pustules.

3 PRes AND his energy, like plopping Hydras :P

i dont know what a pustule is ether sorry only have payed attention to ns2 sense late 2010
cysts (pustules) are not currently in the game but will be implemented next patch and will be the new mechanic
for aliens to spread infestation. each cyst will spread infestation around it, and will be connected in a network to nearby cysts.
the cysts can be destroyed by marines to make nearby infestation disappear.

thx dude so sense gorges can place them does that mean they will stay now if connected to another network
They will however cost Pres to place.

Actually, according to the design log, small and normal Cysts will be shown as "Unconnected Cyst" if not in range of connected Cysts, as well as take damage until they die or get reconnected to a Hive/Cyst network.

i agree with you as long as its out by the end of the month i dont care at all
so wait are the cysts going to be like one gets placed down and more will grow around it?
From what I understand, it means the Alien Commander can grow Cysts (probably using Hive energy) around any other Cysts. They don't grow automatically and Cysts can't be placed off infestation (naturally, only around Hive and other Cysts that generate infestation).
Gorges get more freedom in placing their 'small Cysts' on and off infestation, at the cost of PRes to limit spam.
just read the design docs again and they have to be connected to stay, like PsiWarp said

aaaahh ok thx
The commander can only place connected cysts. A cyst is connected if it can track a straight line to a hive or another connected cyst, so you can't place them without a straight line between them. This does mean that you usually need to place them in exposed locations, vulnerable to pistol sniping.
Placing a connected cyst causes all unconnected cysts with a track to the new cyst to become connected. If a cyst becomes unconnected, it checks if it can find a track to a connected cyst, and then connects to that one instead. So the aliens can build redundant tracks to give themselves some extra resiliance vs marine attacks.
