Once you took a hive, it would slowly spread out across the map where the aliens were present. But given the fact that you need infestation in order to build things, that would be extremely overpowered if it just naturally grew everywhere without direction or a cool down period.

At this point I don't think DI is going anywhere. DI was one of the first NS2 video blogs if I remember correctly and I think they're very high on it.

Maybe it should just go back to my original idea, however, where it just spreads but you don't need it do anything. But then that would make flamethrowers relatively useless and would change a large dynamic of the game. Ergo it's going to say and I foresee the only change to DI being flamethrowers get rid of it quicker.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

It is going to grow on its own, but the commander is also going to be able to control it. Also gorges can (as of 180) now drop proper infestation as far as I know.

im pretty sure the only reason infestation is still in is because flayra thinks it looks cool

it has no redeeming feature besides this and it is just an extra thing to balance and fix. get rid of it

Infestation help define the front lines. Marines can clearly tell when they're entering a danger zone, and aliens don't feel as safe outside of it, either.

Also provides vital detection abilities and the energy regen boost will be very welcome for aliens, also blocks marine building.

    It's pretty useful really.

I would also like to know that.

The majority of players like the infestation idea in one form or another.

Once again we're in a situation where people are calling for something to be removed when it's only been implemented half way. I can see why someone might be frustrated by it because it feels buggy, is hard to kill and doesn't look so great. Overall infestation is a great idea that adds a lot to gameplay and has brought a lot of people to the game. It's laughable and insulting to the devs to say it's only in the game because Flayra thinks it looks cool. The devs invented NS1 and are working hard to bring us NS2, I don't understand how people can talk to them in this condescending way.

no. read the post above yours. it might as well have been my response.
plus, if you were able to see all of meb's posts you'd see a trend. all he does is talk trash, attempt to start fights, bash the game. i seriously dont know why he comes to these forums.

Pustules will be changing much of how infestation spreads. Keep in mind that getting rid of infestation once pustules are present will work better when attacking the pustule itself and not the infestation.
