<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Spore:
Shoots a spore projectile that becomes a lingering spore cloud where it hits, similar to its NS1 counterpart. Any marines in this spore cloud takes damage over time. This is a great area control weapon and should allow Lerks to try to force marines out of an area, or prevent them from entering an area.
There is currently no alt-fire attack for Spore, but the team is open to suggestions.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Maybe for an alt-fire, take the obvious route: When the alternative attack of spore is triggered: the lerk will start gassing it's current position until the button is released. In other words: the lerk opens his gas-glands and just let the gas flow until the button is released or he's out of energy. Creating a cloud of spores around him. (think of umbra in NS1)
This would mean the lerk can fly through a corridor (or marine start) with the button pressed. This would mean he drops a carpet or trail of gas along his fly-path.
This would mean the lerk doesn't need to do the extra twitching move to look at the ground, fire spores and continue to fly forward. Or it would mean that if the lerk can't shoot his spores around the corner where he wants to, he can swoop through the room once or twice, gassing the room and finish the marines off with some spikes. I'm sure it would be loads of fun, even more fun then just popping around the corner, shooting spores and retreating.
I'm sure there are other possible tactics with this technique.
Any comments?

Reminds me of a jet spraying napalm.
+1
Btw you should do a Getsatisfaction post about this!
Also, they mentioned some time ago about replacing projectile Spore with trailing smoke Spore (precisely like your idea), and making projectile Spore an upgrade.

Yep, they've already talked about implementing it. I'm hopeful :)
And he did it! Lets vote!!
Maybe if right click put down a defensive-type cloud, that would be really great.
Or a cloud that did something else.
A smoke screen that blocks turret/marine FOV for example. That would be cool.
There's enough of a difference in measure of danger (more spore via smoke trail = more upfront, ranged spore = sit back and relax).

Oh don't get me wrong though, I do like the idea. I just saw an opportunity to use the Stuka video again :P
