First person effect needed when you die

Hey,
It's been on my mind for a while; but when you die (especially as a marine) you dont get much feedback.
Maybe your screen should blacken out for a split moment, or you should 'fall' to the ground (instead of the camera just stopping where you were at eye level)?
Something subtle like that I think would be handy to see.

Of course, there are those times when your ragdoll spazzes out...
and yeah.. falling to the ground, head hitting hard maybe bounce a litle, fade to black, noises get muffled.... darkness... bright blue light in a distance, comes closer. BÄM ! respawn at IP ! or for aliens... slowly black getting brighter, brown town.. slowly vision gets clear, in egg. hatch. :3
Does it matter though. I mean you're dead, you can't do much about it after this fact of *ehm* life? :P
I, and many others despised this effect in AvP.
The cinematic effect becomes very annoying after a while.
Play a few multiplayer matches of AvP and you'll get the jist of it
Atleast pre v1.0 ;-)
Yes, I'm immortal anyways. does this mean I get godmode hax?
Hell, I STILL run faster when I have my knife out.

Is it that big of a problem if you're already dead?
Yes. It is.
A simple fade-out effect will do then. Or you could do the Valve thing and swing the camera over to the location of your assailant, or the COD thing and show death-cam.

I think it's perfect as it is.
Having killcams isn't everyone's cup of tea, and NS2 should maintain it's counter-strike style of death.
Not to mention older players would despise the feature (I think we all remember what happened when CS:S got achievements and killcams).
We shouldn't fix that which isn't broken if you ask me.
The problem with that statement is that the OP and others believe that it is broken, so you're arrogantly denying their opinions.
wow harimau, hypocritical much? you just commited the same offense by ignoring his opinion whilst throwing in a personal attack to boot.
maybe relax a little, huh guy?

This!
This would be pretty awesome!
And it would prevent flying around in spectator mode and spying out the enemy team.
But as zex said:
<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->(...) the current lack of effect is placeholder because the game is in Beta, I mean have some faith in UW, they wouldn't ship a game without any kind of FPS death effect.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I knew there was something that was bothering me about the 3rd person death and this is exactly it

Not at all. I was simply observing that such a statement is arrogant and biased. It's not a personal attack in any sense. If anyone chooses to take offense (like you did), well, that's not my problem. Sorry, I guess?
Neither did I ignore his opinion. I only criticised the fact that his statement disregarded others' opinions. Perhaps it was an exaggeration.
He said that, we shouldn't fix what isn't broken; but there're problems with that:
- Others believe it is broken.
- If it isn't broken, then we wouldn't be "fixing" it. No, we'd be "improving" it.
His argument seems to stem from complacency rather than the fear that improving it would actually 'break' something. And how would it? It's purely aesthetic and occurs after you die.
