    The Command Station produces nanites that form into a comfy chair for the Commander. We just don't get to see it because it's nanoscopic.

    Little do you know, behind the scenes a nice stool pops up that the commander sits on. Its not the most comfortable nor does it have any cup holders, but it gets the job done in dire situations.

    Who knows actually, maybe UWE wanted the commander to literally be on his toes at all times.

    No one knows what goes on inside a command station. It's one of those "Great mysteries of life" things... That and NANITES!
