One thing i am dreading to see... is the final release. As it was with beta when most people including me thought game was not in beta stage and i would still not put it it beta stage as we can even test the full gameplay feel as there are loads of content missing. So this makes me think when the 1.0 comes out it wont be polished enough and will actually be turnoff for many new players, like it was with ARMA 2 i played it when i just come out and it was full of bugs and never played it again, even when they said there have been some patches. I just hope unknownworlds won't or will be able to avoid releasing unfinished products and patching them latter like a lot of big game company's do nowadays.

First off UWE is not a big game company. No offense guys. They are a small game company that is producing a Triple A title.

Secondly... Most companies do not release their games incomplete.

UWE has already announced by version 1.0 NS2 will be feature complete. The games going through optimization fixes now so that it can receive the remaining features. It's already been stated by UWE when the game is up to par on performance we will see the jet pack, EXO suit, onos and ARC.

Regardless of how past releases have gone, we are making sure that 1.0 release will be feature complete, polished, and sexy :)

You might want to look up what a AAA title is.

Don't worry about NS2. There are already a ton of publishers today pulling the bar down for quality control before launch, and people are getting used to waiting for a game to be fixed if it has faults to start with. Brink is a shining example.

UWE doesn't have unlimited funds, but they do have more options to postpone the game if necessary, than developers who are simply bound by a release deadline and have to ship a product unfinished.

NS2 meets some of the listed criteria, if a game must meet everything in the list to be AAA then I would argue there has not been such a game in the last ten years if ever.

It's debated but if you read the comments, most people do come to the conclusion a AAA title is basically a game that has had the two following thrown at it,

1) A large staffing team
2) A lot of money

And that should then ensure you get

1) High Quality
2) A high return back

Although not always the case, it's basically the first two which really make a AAA title. NS2 hasn't thrown THAT much money at it and they have a much smaller team than most bigger studios.

Well, actually.

If there is a bug in the game but people find it fun then it is a feature :P

Do you guys have a comprehensive list of which features will make NS2 feature complete (subject to change, of course). I've never doubted that you could put out a fun, polished, and sexy game by the unofficial deadline of this year, but I can totally see how you'd postpone some of the ancillary features. For example, there have been several requests for additional features/bug fixes for the spark editor or for UWE to put some love into the main menu. I don't mind and completely understand if these don't make it into the v1.0 release. I'd rather you get NS2 out and start raking in the dough so you can hire more developers/start work on other games/give the mod/mapping tools more love, than make sure that every little feature or bug, no matter how small, is completely finished. I'd just like to know what we can expect a feature complete NS2 v1.0 to include so I don't get my hopes up for things that don't make the cut. Something as simple as a categorization of which features you'd consider of high, average, or low importance to getting in the NS2 v1.0 release would suffice, for me at least.

Who cares when the official release is. Everybody who wants to, can already play the game. And it's updates almost weekly.

IMO Tale worlds also did this with Mount and blade+warband. I am really confident in the motivations and capabilities of this team though, using NS1 as proof of concept. I am pretty excited for the release but I know that it will not be soon.

Sounds to me like dubbing a game: "AAA-title" is a way to categorize something that can't really be categorized. Much like economists do all the time...

There, I said it.
