Spark Editor Question

I haven't used Spark Editor since the beta was first released, I've just cranked it up again and I'm still getting the same crash I was when I first started playing with it.
What I'm trying to do is extrude steel members, I'm not sure if it's crashing because I'm doing it wrong or the editor isn't capable of what I'm trying to do.
So just for an example, I draw a simple PFC (parallel flange channel) then I hit extrude, and bam crash. (see picture)

Any ideas? What em I doing wrong? :P

looking at that pic you are extruding from the edge. which would create a plane on the same plane as your original. For what you want to do: create a face with those lines, change the view to 3d and extrude from that face.
