Any chance it will be released this year?

When they had the two for one offer around Christmas i thought it might be fair to expect a late summer or winter release this year but to be honest i really don't know now so im curious what the forums thinks, it seems like they do make good progress but what is a realistic prediction based on what we know, is it this year, early next year or late next year?

I wouldn't be <i>completely </i>opposed to this
I believe that.
But to be honest, in my Opinion it is better to release the Game "when its done".
Releasing a half finished Game just to match the release Date or get some Cash always backfires.
(good example for this: Gothic 3 ... which was a glitch fest)
So, if you release the Game in the middle of next Year or even later would be okay too.
But, a Release in this Year would be awesome!
If they say 'yeah it'll be done next year' then it will take until next year.
If they say 'it needs to be done this year' it quite probbaly will be done this year, and even if it isn't, it will be much closer to finished than it would otherwise.
If I remember correctly the original official release displayed on the site, was October 2009 which followed the beginning of info updates to registered mail accounts the previous year. My earliest being a September 2008 email that was a reminder the game was still in development with videos of the first ingame footage.
After Duke Nukem Forever (supposedly out this summer lol) this is probably the 2nd longest game in development that ive had an interest in.
From what I can tell the major thing holding back the current release is performance, as soon as that's sorted
out the beta will actually feel allot more like a product. Then it's a matter of adding the rest of the games mechanics
and all the art assets that it sounds (and looks) like they already have completed.
My guess is gonna be either later this year or early next year.
That's a very unspecific guess.
Somehow, we have not experienced the mythical man month. Every time we've had a new programmer help us, they've gotten up to speed very quickly. I'm not sure why this is, but it is definitely the case.
We will not be rushing v1.0 or releasing it before it's done (unlike with our earlier releases that we wanted to get feedback on earlier, and also were having financial concerns), and we're ramping up now to get everything in and polished up this year.

Maybe all of your programmers are amazingly good and can write intelligent code which is easy to explain to other people.
Damned heretic.
I'd actually suspect its because they are writing it mostly in lua to be easily accessible and understandable for modders.
Also, the truly difficult task (the engine C++ code) is being handled mostly by one person (e.g. Max) AFAIK.
~13 Patches til October 31st
~17 Patches til Jan 1st 2012
Considering the amount of progress from Alpha through 20ish patches (b149-b171) over 8 months, draw your own conclusions.
Let's just say I'm not holding my breath, but it's not absolute impossible; just damn improbable.
