<div class="IPBDescription">I just wish it was bigger!</div>Rockdown has all the coolest hiding places for aliens, and it makes the gameplay the best, i just wish it was bigger. I hope UWE and the mapping community make more maps with that kind of style with lots of cool places for aliens to hide from.
Anyways are there anyways to get started mapping for a noobie?

IS the FPS supposed to be that low and stuttery?
Edit: Never mind found it!
Ok I made a pretty cool looking room, now how do I get to walk around in it? Is that an easy thing to do or should read the manual to figure it out?

Or you could of course copypaste the file yourself... Once it is in the proper NS2 folder, you can run it from the main game menu by typing the following in the console:
map "yourmapnamehere, without quotes"
Except their plan is to drop it because its a test map not intended for release. I think UWE should release it to the community to modify so that it can be preserved as a custom map after release.
Hence why I recommended enlarging it a bit to fix the layout so it will fit the planned standards better. Why drop an entire map when with some layout reworkings could easily be transformed into a small full-size map. (or is tram supposed to be the bare minimum of small?)
Pretty much, though I can't find the quote right now. As far as I can tell, UWE is planing on releasing some truly large maps as part of v1.0.
Maybe I'm going too big, maybe I'm not, maybe my size estimations are a tiny bit out, but from what I can tell, NS2 maps have the potential to be VERY large and considerably small for the gameplay type.

I think your spot on. Seems rockdown goes really fast with 6v6 or more then on tram if you don't have at least 6v6 it seems to be a sluggish start.
When the game is content complete and balanced i will experiment with a second resource point either in or very near the team spawns and just remove double entirely to help jump start the game.
Small maps will force the commander to make fast decision and play very aggressively where it is my belief larger maps will give the commander more time to calculate and set the strategy for an epic end-game.
Grrrrr, why do these forums log me out every 3 minutes.....
