Race/gender

<div class="IPBDescription">A do want.</div>So what do you guys think about having the option to select a race/gender for your player in the options menu? That might add a bit of immersion for the women out there who play and would add a little diversity in skin tone for the otherwise storm-trooper-like marines.

Not sure how it would manifest itself in the alien team, but you know, I don't know squat about alien biology/anthropology. Maybe there would be special hide markings for each selectable race or something. The art up at the top of this page gave me the idea.

EDIT: this is just a cosmetic suggestion, it would not affect the gameplay in any way.

We've seen glimpses of a Female Marine in one of the very early videos (the one about the lighting) as well as on concept art.

It's been suggested that Aliens would have different attributes on them showing off what they upgraded too.

I'd definitely like avatar customisation on a purely biological (so under the armour), cosmetic level.

i'd much rather have a halo reach style armour customisation (and something similar for aliens, perhaps eye colour)

Would be cool if they added an ingame character customization menu after release. With a model to the right that you could rotate to the left or right.

i like this, maybe skin tone sets for aliens, armor addons for marines.

make them earnable, i think that's one of the slicker features of halo 2. steam achievements and a running point total used to unlock skins and armor upgrades gives the game a longer shelf live and draws in some rpg kids.
