<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->NS2: At its core, NS2 is a shooter with strategy elements. NS1 was a little closer to half and half, but that had some undesirable characteristics (sometimes it didn't matter how good of a shooter player you were). I'd say NS2 is about 2/3 shooter and 1/3 strategy game, but that 1/3 strategy game is totally indispensible - if you removed it, the game would not feel like NS at all.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
This made me scratch my head. Imo, NS2 has more strategy elements than NS1. NS2 introduces the power grid, dynamic infestation, AI builders, more structures and more commander abilities. NS1 has always been a shooter first. Even with the best comm, you couldn't win a game if your team was bad at shooting.

Couldn't agree more. In fact, both either Commander can now win the game with *ZERO* help from their team *AT ALL* considering the independent build bots/drifters. It's scary when the developers thinks it's less RTS than before...when it's not.

The game has way more emphasis on territory control linked to tech trees, it seems to me it is more related to Company of Heroes with FPS elements then the other way around...

I have to wonder if you've played NS2. A MAC will die in 3 seconds at the jaws of a skulk. MACs cannot kill aliens, take down alien structures or defend marine bases. Marines can easily take down alien structures in the latest builds. Both commanders need their team or they have no chance. If you have really seen cases where commanders have won with zero help you must have been in a server where one team was just messing around. To win as alien comm without any help from the team you would have to send drifters to build a few whips around the marine spawn comm chair or powernode. That will work if A) the marine commander is blind and doesnt see the drifters/whips coming to the base B) marine team is blind and dont see either c) there are no sentry guns covering base like normal.

No, but sentry stacking is going to be stopped in later patches, and I think theyre also going to stop teams being able to build in the other team's bases.
