Anyone use GoDaddy or WebHostingHub?

<div class="IPBDescription">Looking for domain name + hosting. (PHP, MySql, etc.)</div>I've made a relatively basic website for a friends band and now we're looking to buy the .com for 12 months or so.

I've done some searching and narrowed it down to two companies:
<a href="http://www.godaddy.com/" target="_blank">- GoDaddy</a>
<a href="http://www.webhostinghub.com/" target="_blank">- WebHostingHub</a>

My only requirements are:
- PHP support
- MySQL support (the database is pretty small - I'll be very surprised if it hits over 100meg.)
- Javascript support for things like <a href="http://twitter.com/about/resources/widgets/widget_profile" target="_blank">a twitter widget.</a>
- 250meg or space or so. (The more the better but it's not a huge requirement and I can probably write a script to resize images if needed.)

That's about it really, the majority of the features of the site are very basic (image uploader + gallery (hence the 250meg), user login etc).
Looking to spend around $100/£50 (12 month contract).

Do you guys have any experiences with GoDaddy, WebHostingHub or any other company worth mentioning? Sites to avoid, sites that don't get recommended enough, etc.

Thanks.

One of the best things you can do for your site is to purchase the domain from one entity and host with another. Generally, the all-in-one hosts get extra grouchy when you try to move your site to a new host. Godaddy is fine for purchasing a domain but don't bother using them for hosting. I've had good experiences hosting with <a href="http://www.surpasshosting.com/index.php" target="_blank">Surpass.</a>

You should be able to register a domain for $10 a year and get web hosting that covers everything you need for $3-4 a month if you pay for a year of hosting. If GoDaddy is asking for more then that then you are overpaying.

Judging by the fact you put the price in pounds, with a bad currency conversion, I'll assume you're a Brit, in which case I recommend the company that our local Shockwave works for <a href="http://www.zen.co.uk" target="_blank">Zen.co.uk</a> . They're always really helpful, great customer service, fairly priced too.

    $100 = roughly £60.

    £100 = roughly $155 / £50 = roughly $77

    ;)

    Thanks for the replies guys.

The concept of 1 company for hosting and 1 company for domain registration never crossed my mind but I shall look into it further!

    At the moment I'm looking at a company called <a href="http://www.5quidhost.co.uk/" target="_blank">5quidhost</a>.
They get great reviews, have a fair price and the features are nice too.

And yes, I am in the UK.

I use GoDaddy for the domain to my personal site - works a treat. Never had any problems at all whatsoever for going on 3 years now. They have great customer service too.
