10 min in pshop, but something along these lines.

    I think it would be fun loading only one set of skulk texture maps.

    only 2 of the 8 textures were modified. the rest were untouched, i'm sure it wouldn't cause that big of a performance hit, if that's what your concern was.

    dont like it. itd be like announcing yourself with a flare. your a skulk. supposed to blend. look how well the vanilla skin "blends" and "camouflages" .. bright alarmingly red doesnt sound like something i want.

    it's the same spec map as the original... it would "blend" exactly the same. i would use the red skulk even if it didn't blend in. my comparison pic shows predominantly yellow warm lighting so it blends better, if i put the red skulk in warm red lighting it would blend in better. not all maps will be warm yellow lighting. it's subjective.

    a lot of people against the idea of a red eyes skulk i see.

    Release it as a custom skin? If anything it would blend in more inside rooms with destroyed power nodes.

    thats a good idea, but if i'm gonna go that route, might as well make them like h.r. giger's aliens.

    I don't really care for how it looks. I like the varied colors on the regular skulk, and this looks like you took the texture map and changed the hue to red.

    I think the only only thing that's needed for the alien players is Glowing Red or Green Or eyes, that leave behind a trail - like those zombies from combat arms

    Yeah, that would be cool. It would also be a VERY simple effect to pull off.

    neon colored flashy marine and alien skins... hope there will be a way to enforce standard skins.

    It should be fine with another eye-colour perhaps, and instantly recognizable since the eyes stand out in the darkness.

    A select few will do that, don't ruin it for everyone else.

    Heh as long as the engine checks for valid none transparent walls or materials that you can see trough walls, I'm fine with client side customization...

    I like that because it's more, realistic?

    If you got Alpha you got black armour. 'Beta'/normal get nothing else, I think you just have to accept that.

    I'd be careful with changing the look of the aliens because they look really good first of all and you cant have things look out of place. The only change i see that could be made is modifying the way the bones look. Giving them some sort of horns or spikes, or changing the bone color.

    You don't want to lose the feel of NS or make it look tacky. Even the skin i did is a little loud for NS but the reason for the brightness is that it is much easier to see the MAC's in the minimap when the top of the skin is a bright color that stands out from the map. The pirate idea cracked me up so I'l probably give that a shot after i finish my marine HUD mod for this patch

    I already have custom model plans that do exactly this.
