    Yeah, that is what they do... I've had one featured on machinima's channel and the brightness/contrast ratio was very sharp with very dark areas (Nearly black areas) with over saturated areas. I've asked them about it, never received any word on it (well I did if "it looks good to me" is a valid response...)

    mentioned it in the comments as well... The darkness is very annoying, I just compared them side to side and a lot of stuff isn't even visible on this newly encoded one...

    It is a problem on youtube that reprocess the video reducing the light and contrast.
    So, if you download a video from youtube and then re-upload it, is reprocessed and things goes wrong.

    I read about it somewhere, can't remember where.
