The Lork

What ability do you think the lork is missing in NS2? :P

Currently it has:

Barrett

Silenced-MG42

Chemical weapons

Flight

I was thinking it should also have a flamethrower (with infinite range to permit fire-based sniping from vents), the ability to drop cluster bombs and perhaps napalm as well, and i would really like to see a dual rapid fire rocket launchers mounted on the wings.

Is that the lork?

Hmm this seems more of a match cause of that sniper-cannon it has.

We have a winner! >:D

i think it should have claws and a stinger. and probably should hover around the map without ever having to flap. not once.

I think it should also come in different colors because it's 2010 and i don't feel NS2 represents all the races equally so we should get black lerk, white lerk, hispanic lerk, pink lerk for the ###### community and green lerk for the eco-conscience

To be honest the flight model feels unnatural to me. It stalls way too fast.

That's because you need to set the auto-pilot to hover mode. But before that you need to come to an almost stand still, no more than 10 km/h in any direction and push the trim button so the lork is nice and trimmed. Only then can you engage auto-hover. You can also tell the auto-pilot to auto-turn to any target you have selected in the Shkval. This button is located next to the laser standby switch right beside the collective.

Damnit that's it, I forgot to trim! /doh

Seiously though, I don't like how Lerk flight works right now. NS1 Lerk flight was just perfect.

And I'm not generally in the "NS1 is always better" crowd.

Now thats why the Lork is running on Vodka :D

Srsly now, I prefer flying the Lork on Flight Director, the AP comes into my way most of the times in these claustrophobic space stations ;)

The flight director is indeed very useful during heavy manouvers. But when you need to hover and snipe those pesky manpa...*cough* I mean marines the auto-hover comes in handy. Otherwise you could find yourself suddenly crashing into a big clorf when down in the lorkpit looking at the Shkval.

I would say the lork needs an Onos to hide behind once the marines figure out where he is.

Then he can play the "na-na have you met my big brother" sound.

Better yet, when the lork dies, an Onos pops out.

this only proves its long range fighter, so this explains why they can't bite.

    edit

i wouldn't mind if lerks had some sort of blinding effect from their spores, aka can't see through spores or while you're in it you are blind anything outside of it.

That would be extremely overpowered and frustrating for the marines since it's easy for a lerk to spam spores. Use drifter flare instead if you want to blind the marines.

    We have to add cheese.
Everything becomes better after adding cheese!
