Aye, i was a sinner once
Nusco was interviewed by HalfLifeItalia regarding the Holy Wars mod. Holy Wars was a terrific DM-style HL mod from about a year ago that didn't really catch on due to some issues of time and audience. It's a very interesting read from someone in the know of mod-making.

Check it out here

Holy Wars is having a renassaince right now, which is great because I really loved this mod; it was super fast paced, frantic, had terrific artwork, inventive code, and generally just took me to school.

Take a look at Beta2 here

As a special side note, check out this great quote from the article:

Nusco: I'm eager to put my grubby little forefingers on Natural Selection

Oh yea MonsE, Holy Wars is freakin awesome. When im sick of DoD ill play that for a change. Have you guys tried Pirates Vikings and Knights? That, though small is very very fun. It was MoW on PHL couple weeks ago, go DL it if you wanna. Action Half-Life is a good time also.

What struck me about holy wars is that it's a really nice atmosphere with the nice textures, models and not to mention sounds. It's so different. :)

Right, I think well have to have a game of this soon. Another of Fam's random mod servers coming right up.

Suggestions for other mods are welcome, weve already had Svencoop, Boxwar and RocketCrowbar.

Holy Wars was pretty cool, even though it had some weapon balance issues. The rocket launcher might as well have been shooting Nerf missiles at your enemies, whereas the railgun was pretty deadly, especially to Sinners. On the other hand, I loved the atmosphere of the mod. Any game where health powerups are beer bottles, the railgun goes "ding!" when it's finished reloading, and your character yawns after not seeing action for a while is good with me

I have to say, though, I'm a little disappointed that they're removing Halo mode. I mainly look at games in terms of their style of gameplay, and I feel that if I wanted to play just deathmatch or instagib, I could just go load up UT. I liked the way that Halo mode coerced players to work as a team temporarily to take down the saint, then all of this teamplay would vanish completely as people rushed for the halo after the Saint had died. Not to mention the frequent "hunting accidents" which kept you wary of getting TOO close to the Saint. Sure, it was a pain getting tk'ed by llamas, but I didn't find that to be all THAT frequent. I still liked the change of pace from standard fare HL, looked a little more like Q3.

Me, Comprox and Shoven had a game earlier, it was quite fun (especially for me, I was blessed with the power of no lag).

Having not played it before, its vey much like Q3A for Half-Life, but with a bit more humour, and a tad fewer sparkly chrome effects/Curly architecture/American voiceovers.

However, the weapons are a tad unbalanced, The railgun and Shotgun are the only ones I saw being used.

I love PVK Best archer you'll ever see, foo.
Holy Wars was fun, until Fam owned us all on his home grown server. I didn't notice a lot of change in the new version, aside from the abscence of halo mode. The new models look real good, but it's still a little quirky (ie: the weapon balance).

Another undead topic. But while were at it, yes they were all owned by me (and Rhoads) at Holywars. It was fun, although not as funny as certain rocket crowbar games.
