i have half life 2 installed and my steam path is X:steam i installed it to X:\Steam\steamapps\common\NaturalSelection 2
is this for NS 1 here (if so then i was guided here through a wrong link :S)
thx again
i was guided here through a link in a video of NS2 wich points here !
A few things:

Natural-Selection is a Half-Life 1 mod, released in 2002 and it needs Half-Life 1 (1998 release) installed <- not the one you're talking about

Natural-Selection 2 is a standalone game, currently in closed beta, on their own engine called Spark engine. The only thing you need for NS2 is to have a valid Steam installation and a NS2 closed beta key.

It's kinda annoying we don't have a dedicated support forum for NS2, but this one does suffice (kind off). We just have to be clear on which one you're talking about. So with that out of the way, I've got a question for you:
Have you redeemed your NS2 key you've received in your mail? Trough the Steam Library's "+ ADD A GAME..." thingy at the bottom. I think the reason NS2 is not able to find a valid steam install is because you have yet to do this?
ill wait for (hopefully) a demo on steam to try the game prior to purchasing it ;) (bought recently BfBC2 and was rather dissapointed)
