the one thing i disliked about ff8 was the fact you had to junction magic to your stats to make them stronger. It kind of made me not want to use magic all that much. They should have made the draw system percentage based imo. E.g. you have to draw magic untill it's power is at 100% where it does the full damage of the spell.

Most likely the only thing that will change is that battletoads will take the #1 spot.

Top games for me: PC only, in no special order

    Deus Ex
    Thief
    Baldur's Gate Series
    Grim Fandango
    Starcraft
    Warcraft 3
    Quake 3/Live
Heroes of Might and Magic 3
Half Life 1 and 2 and NS

    Honourable mentions:

    Sacrifice
    Mass Effect
    Dungeon Keeper 1
    MDK
    Disciples 1 and 2
    F.E.A.R
    Starcraft 2

The honourable mentions are games that have some nasty flaws, but also seem to have ambition and originality that makes them stand out as memorable and great experiences. Starcraft 2 mostly got to the list because it was released this year and isn't as completely casual oriented as most games.

The list is probably missing a dozen must have product. I'll probably add something after spending some $$$ on the good old games catalogue.

4 Final Fantasy games at the top?

Someone needs to stop talking to the fanboys.

Yaaay, 550 gamers shared their favorite games so far.

Today I've finally added 2 new decades ('70s and '80), current gen systems + many others, a lot of yearly tops.
Why now? you might ask. Simply because I found a new way to display our lists in our profiles.
It's not perfect yet but it sure is a lot more organized than before.
It's finally starting to look like a gaming resume.
Well, tell me what you guys think :D

system shock 2 was indeed awesome and is in my top 25. The Ultima Underworlds (earlier Looking Glass games) made more of an impression on me though for some reason. Underworld 2 felt so incredibly immersive for its time (hell, for any time). System Shock 2 felt a little more gimmicky to me.

Hmm, 25 titles a lot but here goes. (Order = random)

    1: Perfect Dark
    2: GoldenEye
    3: Final Fantasy VII
    4: World of Warcraft
    5: Super Smash Bros Brawl
    6: Half-Life
    7: Half-Life 2
    8: Left 4 Dead 2 (I liked 1 but 2 is a little more fun!)
    9: Metal Gear Solid
10: Zelda: A Link To The Past
    11: Guitar Hero 2
    12: Zelda: Ocarina of Time
13: Burnout 3 (The only fun racing game ever... except for #14)
    14: F-Zero 64
    15: Donkey Kong 64
    16: Blast Corps
    17: Banjo-Tooie
18: Bomberman (SNES version. 4-player brilliance.)
    19: FarCry
20: Uncharted (Not finished 2 yet!)
21: Knights of the old Republic 2
    22: SplinterCell: Chaos Theory
23: Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast
    24: Max Payne 2
    25: Super Mario 64

After looking over this list, I've come to realize that there's only 4/5 titles there that I repeatedly come back to and enjoy over-and-over.
Maybe as I'm getting older my attention-span is struggling... or maybe the modern games aren't as good as the likes of A Link To The Past.

The 700 gamers mark has been reach!!

Ocarina of Time is still owning the competition. 177 people put it in their Top 25. I feel like a sell out since I ranked it 9th in my list.
For my defense OoT is the only game from the general Top 10 that is on my list.

Still I am glad to see Shadow of the Colossus in the Top 15. I'll doubt it'll stay that way when the gamer count reaches 1000.

Clearly this list has been abused by RPG fanboys. Don't get me wrong, RPGs are really fulfilling games and many are amazing, but there is a massive skew towards RPGs on that list and I just don't honestly believe that on balance people prefer RPGs to all other genres.

Bias is to be expected unless someone makes a dedicated effort to ensure that the users of the site make up a representative sample of the gaming population as a whole. This is why "Top X games" should always be taken with a spoonful of salt.

I had a lot of fun playing Dark Crusade, but then again I also had personal friends to play it with, none of that playing with anonymous strangers over the internet, so coordination was always a lot easier in multiplayer matches since we would be sitting across from one another. I would play guard, my friend would play space marines; an effective system.

But as to the personal taste of video games: to each his own.
