Connection problems detected all the time

Every server I join gives me the "Connection problems detected" message. I can look around (or walk around) for a second then it hangs. 10 seconds later, it works again for a second then hangs. Repeat.
I have ADSL2+ and im joining local servers so what the hell is going on?

    I'd like to add that I have this problem too. Not do do with firewall and I disabled the steam overlay after reading about the problems (couldn't connect before that).

    That is because the infamous memory leak on the server.
    Until is fixed we all have it.

    Ah ok, thanks for clearing that up.

    Saw a few threads on mem leaks, assumed they were clientside.

    Nope, biggest problem is the server atm, most of the time they only stay up for 10-20mins at most before the leak gets so bad they crash :(
    Hopefully we will get a fix for this early next week (fingers crossed anyway)

    Yep, all updates will come via steam, assuming you have NS2 set for automatic updates (its enabled like this by default), it will download itself.

    Exactly, a server running smooth just crashed, and I was doing an excellent job as alien commander... =(

    And yes, UWE is working on this so next update will be fixing this issue.

    I forgot to mention that although I was having problems, there were other people in the server who were running around just fine.

    I don't think its the memory leak, since some players are fine and others are not.

    When im on a server there is usually 3 or 4 players playing the game and then the server is nearly full of people joining and quitting. My guess is those people have the same problem I have and can't even move in the RR. Its like the download rate on my client is capped. I wonder if the people who have it working are alpha players and beta players are missing some files/settings.
