Fade and onos

For any that dont know you can access the fade and onos by turning on cheats ("cheats 1" in console), then typing fade or onos in.

The fade blink is actualy kinda good. The blink in NS1 tended to get you stuck a lot at first (when it was like this). This one I couldnt get to get me stuck at all. It seemed ok to use as is (with the right click to go into ghost mode). Alhtough I hear changes are in the works for how that works. I dont know what the second ability of the fade does. It doesnt seem to do any damage and it has a secondary effect but im not sure what its meant to do.

The onos main gore attack seems to do too little damage, need to buff that up. Also if you hold shift down, the onos can pick up quite a bit of speed and seems very momentum based.

Anyone else have any thoughts about these two creatures?

It is really easy to blink out of and around the map and I blinked myself stuck once. I kind of like it because it reminds me of the original fade lore of them blinking out of walls and really gives them that Night Crawler feel. If only there was a good way to control it other than giving fades noclip.

I did not know that. Thanks lots.

Blinking is sweet, I wish the controls were a bit easier to use though.

I find the new Blink to be pretty cool and intuitive. Close to the original version, only better. Even at this early stage it appears to be very robust. Despite many attempts I couldn't teleport myself out of the map, nor get myself stuck. Sweet. The range is limited, but more than adequate. With full energy you can blink five times in a row, which is enough to get you basically across the whole map.

Most anticipated game play moment: Being hunted by marines while moving towards a junction. Take the turn in one direction and when out of sight blink into the opposite tunnel and get into the back of your pursuers, while they follow you in the wrong direction.

Having difficulties with the framerate (half of the time my aim for that passageway ended up with my face staring right into the wall instead) but otherwise it's looking like it could be damn fun to use. Can't help but feel a bit like it could be almost too powerful though, although that is hardly up for debate at this point though.
Experienced players are gonna have a blast with this ability for sure.

I think the new Fade Blink is excellent. I wish it was a tiny bit faster when it comes to placing and then blinking to your target location, but I guess this method prevents spamming.
Looking forward to the Fade reveal.

i like it aswell, also the sound effects :) but its little bit dirturbing that you are falling down so fast, falling speed should accelerate slowlier after blink, like 0.5 seconds almost hovering

onos sounds are also cool :)

The blink effects and mechanics are great. However, I hope they address the controls. It needs to be changed so that you can blink with just one click instead of two (like how leap works). This would be accomplished by having the ghost image of the blink appear on right mouse down, and then complete the blink on right mouse button up. As is, it's too much clicking needed, and there is a large delay between clicks that the game currently registers (i.e. you have to wait a certain time between right and left mouse clicks currently, which greatly inhibits fade movement freedom).

It's not that you fall fast out of blink - you actually keep the same trajectory you had when you blinked. If you were just starting a jump, you will finish the jump from the point you popped out of blink.

one of my favorite things to do in ns1, stand right around a corner, Listen for those stupid marines to make a bunch of noise and let me know there coming, Jump out, Cut up a marine, Blink away.

There's no models in the game yet for fade and onos.

so when you "access" them thru cheats, it's just a viewmodel? or the same UI as the other aliens but no model?

ok that works when you are on ground before the first blink, but not for second, third etc when you are already in the air. well, lets wait until the fade is actually in the game and we can do some playtesting :)
