I'm surprised nobody's mentioned this already.
So there's this game. Space Station 13. It's got a bit of a sordid history, it was developed by a guy or some guys, the source got leaked, goons got it, something something whatever.

The result is an incredibly confusing game. Think Dwarf Fortress, but you control one guy with a specific job, but multiplayer, and in space. With wizards.

Some things that have actually happened to me:

Playing as a janitor:
Put down my wet floor sign and started mopping. Someone slipped over on the wet floor and ran off, dragging my mop bucket behind him.

Space station overrun with alien infestation oh god what is this what am I doing. Facehugger scampering towards me, leaps, screen goes black, I hear a tussle and when I can see again the facehugger is dead next to me and I'm being dragged along by something invisible. I'm dragged through a hidden door and the room beyond is packed with people. My savour decloaks with a crackle and berates me for wandering the halls alone, then checks my vitals and gives me a clean bill of health.

Playing as a scientist:
I went to the lab and it was flooded with plasma so I turned on a few air scrubbers, that helped a bit. I was dragging the full scrubber to atmospheric processing to dump, when an explosion tore a hole in the side of the station in my section. I managed to lock myself in the toxin storage room before I got sucked into space. The rescue shuttle came but I had no way of getting to it, so I cracked the top off a canister of N²O and comitted suicide in a bout of toxic euphoria.

I'd accidently contaminated the lab with plasma. I was attempting to override an airlock interlock so I could vent the gas into space, but I cut the wrong wire and electrified the door. This ignited the flamable plasma/air mixture and I died in an explosive fireball.

Did I mention wizards?

I think Supernorn has something to do with it. He made some of the art, I think.

If there's sufficient interest, I can throw up a server for us.

It's nice that you included some links but why should I want to click on those links? What is this game like?

    What have you done, Scythe.

Luckily the game has a steep learning curve and the best version is run by goons, so you'll have no idea what you're doing and if you do then you'll probably get banned for blowing up the entire space station.

    Required reading material: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7M-JPH5SOmI

SS13 is actually a space janitor simulator: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdDi3ypeEOM

And i guess the rock paper shotgun review, where the guy somehow managed to make my not so fantastic art look even worse: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2010/07/21...bartender-ep-1/

Always wanted to try this, but was never in the right timezone for anyone to be on. I'm down for this if there are actually going to be people online and playing though.
